The Lost Stories: Crystal Isles (Chapter 2: Heart of the Dragon)

As Inferi shook her head she drew out of the trance and her eyes turned back to its purple color. Jade and Clearwater looked scared, but Bloodwing looked like a mass of pure rage. “Well…” He hissed. “Your valuable.” Then he drew in a breath, charging up his blood attack. At this, Inferi shot upward and drew in a breath to charge up her attack to block the blood. But what shot out was ice, not scalding water. (Sorry if that is the wrong attack, haven’t spent much time on Crystal isles) She had no time to think about that as the rest of the wyverns started chasing her, clearwater yelling out “Wait!” But it didn’t matter. She had to get out of this ark and find to Crystal and Aloy and everyone else. She was close to the Temple of the Dragon, so Inferi quickly aimed for that area, because the others were to large to fit, but as a Wyvern, she was fast and skinny. There seemed to be a town of survivors living in it when she got closer, but she couldn’t stop now. As she burst through the gap, all the survivors yelled and backed away. Ew…. What’s that smell? She thought. Then she saw a carcass of an ember Wyvern with ballista bolts all over its body. She landed near the entrance, watching Bloodwing as he tried to break the stone pillars. Someone out of the crowd of watching survivors emerged wearing a “chieftains hat” she had seen popular among tribes. The survivor was male, and seemed to be watching and deciding what do do. While she was distracted, Bloodwing managed to get in and pin her down and sink his back claws into her underbelly. I roared and flame shot out of my mouth. All the survivors backed away when I suddenly kicked Bloodwing into the water. He flailed a little while, then flew out and landed near the entrance. “This isn’t over. I’ll be back, and you will regret doing that.” He said. “Well, weren’t you the person who attacked in the first place?” I said as the others watched from outside. “But anyway, I doubt you could really do anything to me, even with an army of wyverns. I have heard more things than any Wyvern probably has and held more lives than life should allow. And plus, it not my fault I spouted lines of prophecy randomly.” Bloodwing growled and squeezed out of the gap and flew away, the others following. I looked back at the group of survivors and saw all of them watching. I flew out and onto a cliff above but had some difficulty flying because of the hole in my underbelly. As I landed a change came over me, and suddenly I was human again, wearing ghilie and everything was normal, except I had a compound bow slung on my back, a dagger at my side, and a steel spear. I also was wearing a small manta necklace. I leaned over, groaned, and held my hand to my torso, where the wound was still there, and bleeding like crazy. “Ark…. Why….” I muttered. I didn’t hear the flapping until someone said, “Who are you?” Surprised, I poised the spear to fight and looked for the voice. In front of me was the chieftain, along with two other people, all riding tropeganthus. I didn’t answer as I assessed all of them. Flak, with normal shot guns. Not counting the cannons on the tropeganthus. “That’s not necessary, and even if we did fight, the odds would be in our favor.” The chieftain said. I replied, “I’ll take those chances.” And then one of the escorts said, “But we don’t want to attack, just talk.” The other escort eyes turned red and the tropeganthus leaped into the air. “What are you-“ but Inferi was already in the air. She was a little slow from the wound, but it did the trick. She jumped onto the tropeganthus’s back, pulled the rider off, and put to spear to his throat. The escort stiffened, and the chieftain eyes widened, while the other rider put his hands up. The tropeganthus simply landed and watched. “That’s not necessary.” The chieftain said. “Didn’t you see? He is possessed, and was about to blow up the cliff.” I replied. “What?…” the captive said in a small voice. He wasn’t possessed anymore, so I let him go. The rider got back on his tropeganthus and eyed me. I still had the spear ready, and the chieftain said “Why don’t we sort this out at the temple? And heal that wound?” “Fine” I replied “Do you want help getting down?…” The chieftain asked. “No, thank you. I meet you at the entrance.” And jumped off the cliff. I had anchored a grappling line though, so I slid down to ground. In a pool small pool, she saw that her eyes had changed again. One eye was black, and the other was the same purple as her Wyvern. She waited near the entrance as they all dismounted and the tropeganthus flew inside. “I am claw, and this is amber” Claw the chieftain pointed to the female escort “and this is Slate.” He pointed to the other escort. “What is your name?” He asked. Why not…. I thought. “Inferi” I said. They walked in and Inferi sheathed the spear, with the two escorts trailing behind her like guards.
