Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a basilosaurus? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a basilosaurus.
How to tame a basilosaurus.
Let's prepare. You will need a few things:
1. Raw meat(s). I prefer raw mutton or prime meat.
2. A weapon. I used a mix of a raft and an ascended bow. But a strong weapon that fires underwater is strongly recommended.
3. A clear coast. Make sure no hostile creatures are nearby.
Taming the basilosaurus: The first feed takes the longest, then after that it'll eat whenever. Keep a fast water tame by your side at all times.
Once tamed, it will offer these buffs:
1. Oil. It generates oil in its inventory.
2. Insulation. It'll keep you warm.
3. A new water tame.
🔺️ if this helped and is accurate!
When taming this, be careful, Mantas and sharks follows a basilosaurus around and will attack you if you approach or feed the basilosaurus. According to the Basilosaurus dossier, Mantas usually follow them because of their eating habits (Well very messy) and it leaves plenty of leftovers for them. They attack you when you feed a basilosaurus because it leaves no leftovers for them.
I believe the dossier, but yeah.
Ride dolphin or manta, water creature won't attack you while riding a water dino, then go near basilo feed it, Don't unride or you'll see your self dying, put food on your hot bar then click it when near basilo u can feed basilo without unriding. Up! So no noobs will be eaten by manta or megalodon lol
Tame:
1. Grab an Ichthyosaurus.
2. Put Meat desired by Basilosaurus in your Hot Bar.
3. Ride Ichthyosaurus.
4. Put Basilosaurus-desired Meat Type in Basilosaurus's mouth.
5. Repeat.
6. When tamed, Megalodon/Mantas/Ichthyosauruses-in-wild will follow Basilosaurus.
7. Once Basilosaurus is in a safe spot, Basilosaurus can kill predators.
8. PROTECT ICHTHYOSAURUS FROM CARNAGE!!! I MADE THAT MISTAKE AND REGRETTED IT.
How to tame basilosaurus
Where to find:
Basilosaurus are found in the oceans surrounding herbivore Island
Taming details:
Basilosaurus are passive tames that arent aggressive towards you at all and they are carnivores so feed them meat.
Problems:
Basilosaurus are surrounded by mantas and they will attack you when you feed or attack the Basilosaurus, there are plesiosaurs, megalodons, leedsicthis and tusothuthis where the Basilosaurus are,
Advantage:
Basilosaurus are slow so you're underwater mount can keep up with it.
Abilities when tamed:
Basilosaurus are immune to jellyfish stings and eel shocks and cannot be grabbed by squid, they produce oil in there inventory but it spoils, they regenerate health fast near the surrface, they can shoot rainbows out of their blowhole using one of their attacks
Disabilities when tamed:
Basilosaurus lose health when they are in deep water
Basilosaurus isn't as hard to tame as you'd think. It may be surrounded by mantas and sometimes megs, but there's a simple solution; Baryonyx.
Tame a Bary, any level will do. Approach the Basilo and use the tail spin attack, it'll stun the mantas/megs and scare the Basilo away for a few meters, far enough for you to take out every threat with a Bary stun-lock without hurting it further. Once they're dead, all you need is swim towards the Basilo, feed it, and follow it around until it's tamed.
Been doing it this way for years with no problems whatsoever, in my opinion it's the best and safest way to tame it. -Hydro
NEED TO KNOW BEFORE TAMING!
Okay, so I saw one in a river opening on Crystal Isles. I thought the mantas attack you as soon as you go near. So I slowly approached the tail near the river bank. The mantas didn’t agro on me, I thought I was just far enough away. No. Oh no no no noooo. It turns out the mantas ATTACK the second you feed it. Please don’t do what I did haha
P.S I lost my otter to the mantas. R.I.P
This creature is so easy to tame. All you need is:
1. An Ichthyosaurus(these guy won't be attack by any water creature, except the jellyfish)
2. Anykind of meat(I suggest using prime meat and don't use fish meat)
3. Find one of these creature
4. Feed it prime meat(It's a long time between the 1st and the 2nd feed, after the 2nd feed it's fast)
And then you get one of these, just be careful of the megalodons, they will attack right after it is tamed. I hope this is useful for you<3
Get an ichy and aggro mantas. Then lead them far away. Then return to basi quicky fees it and run off wait 5 mins then return to feed again. People keep saying ichys do not get aggro by other creatures but that is so not true so becareful and watch your surroundings.
If you are having trouble finding some of these on the island, try near herbivore island. Good luck!
Fun fact: the first time you feed it, it takes a while. The rest of the time, it’s much faster, don’t worry!
Ignore posts about taming bar going down, you need to tame it using only the food you give it from the start, if you change the type of food you give it, it then resets the taming bar
It takes a while to eat the second time, so don't fret
A living oil mine and immune to jellyfish and someone who likes to ignore the hug of the Tuso . Yup definitely worth taming and for some of you who don’t know how to tame this kind of Dino then this is how you do it
Step 1: put the item you will use to tame in your hot bar
Step 2: get close to the Dino then tap the item to feed it then keep feeding it until it tame up
I am telling process because I had problems passive taming when I was a beginner
Hope this was helpful :)
On island these guys spawn on herbivore island (the lowest island) the land has no predators but the water had megladons, mantas and these guys.
Don’t actually knock it out its a passive tame. Mine took around 23 meat and 15 minutes for a lvl 70 basil, totally worth it.
Can apparently fight cnidaria without getting electrocuted
After you feed the first time, it must lose 10% of its food before it can be fed the second time. After the second feeding, it takes about 15 seconds between feedings. So you have some time to gather prime after the first feeding, but not after the second!
Takes ages to feed after the first time but after that it is nearly instant worth taming as they have high weight and good damage bit they are usually followed by 20 mantas so taming can be difficult
I don’t know what everyone else did but In my experience the Icythaurus or whatever the dolphin is called, still gets attacked. Everything is chasing me on it. Sure I can out run everything but the tips here made it sound like you would get ignored.
Also, someone said you could tame it from the saddle you can’t you have to dismount.
Now this is all PS4.
So best bet is to have 2 - 3 people 1 to feed and the others to agro and lure away the mantas and megs.
Icys are fastest in my experience. So best bet to bait away and dart in and out.
