Fire and Fangs Chapter Two

- HGA ttg The Nazgûl

Slither flew over the trenches of the lava covered north of the island of Ragnarok. He always enjoyed searching the trenches for various pieces of treasure. He had recently heard a rumor of a cave at the source of the lava river that flowed through the trenches. As he scanned the area below, he spotted it. It was a small hole in the back of the trench. Luckily for Slither, he was on the small side and had an easy time wiggling through the hole. The cave was dark, as no sunlight could get in. Slither ignited a fire in his through so he could see. The walls were made of obsidian, as expected. However, one wall caught his attention. It was just as deep a black as the obsidian walls, but it was not smooth. It almost resembled dragon scales. Slither, being easily frightened and the wall making him slightly nervous, began to turn around to leave. But, the moment he started moving, the wall began to move. It was quite obvious that this was a living dragon. He sat there in panic as he watched the beast. He saw what looked like a claw and he turned and on the other side of the cave he saw the tale. The creature was clearly much bigger than any wyvern he had seen. It was then that he heard a voice. “Who are you?”

“S-S-Slither.” Slither responded. The voice was deep and almost soft, yet possessed a strong hint of cunning and rage. Slither only ever described it from that point on as pure evil. “Who are you?” Slither asked, managing to get it out without a stutter. The beast was still circling the cave and Slither had yet to locate its head.

“I am a wyvern like yourself. Perhaps you have heard of me in legend, though I doubt my true self was left in those legends.” Slither recalled the legends of the larger wyverns of the past and he feared he knew now who this beast was. “In due time, all creatures on this island will be filled with a new fear. The fear of me.” At this moment Slither’s fire illuminated the creatures face. He could only see one eye. It was glossy white, likely, if the legends were true, from being struck in the face. As it moved its head closer and a fire began to kindle in its throat, the sound of raw power, strength, and anything dark and evil came out in its voice as it finished. “THE FEAR OF DRACO!”
