Get a wyvern or quetzal and pick the velonasaur up and bring it into a taming pen. If both are not available and you dont have the power to kill nearby dinos, make a trap out of 4 wooden or stone gateframes and gates (add the gate doors to the gateframes otherwise it will escape)

You donβt need to trap this to tame, itβs a solo tame. If you run up to it, it will go into turret mode then you need to walk circles around it and keep hitting with tranq until it eventually tries to walk away *in turret mode so really slow walking*
They can be found in the Fjordur Map on the shores in the Volcano biome, along with some X-Trikes and a few more stuff- β Bob the Builder

2x Rockcarrot
2x Savoroot
5x Mejoberries
3x Fiber
10x Blue Crystalized Sap
1x Water
Medium Sized Eggs: Ankylosaurus, Baryonyx, Carno, Dimetrodon, Diplodocus, Iguanadon, Kaprosuchus, Kentrosaurus, Stegosaurus, Pachyrhino, Pelagornis, Sarco, Scorpion, Terror Bird, Troodon, Carbodemys.

Just get a harpoon gun with a net projectile.
Net it and then shoot it with your friend ( if you're on a tribe ) , a few shots from an ascended long neck rifle from the. Two of you
Will down it in a few seconds.
Note : bring a metal shield Incase if you have a primitive rifle, shoot it once it gets up
Tank the needles with the metal shield wait for 10 secs thenn net again
We can use the net projectile with this dino, easy tame!
About a couple weeks ago, I was so lucky I was fooled into thinking a Velonasaur disregarded a shooter when mounting an Allosaur. Just now, I thought about how a Stegosaurus protects it's rider from arrows, and then shot at the Velonasaur between the plates in Hardened mode. I got very little damage comparatively, and knocked it out in relative peace. Stegos are the key, my packmates.
Make a 2x2 cage with ramps and a door. Lure the velonasaur in with a flyer. If you stay close to him he wonβt enter turret mode. Leveling melee raises his projectile hit points. Also level stamina to attack longer. A high level can shred everything Iβve come across. Canβt wait for an imprinted one for the speed bonus.
