Tips & Strategies

What are tips for troodon? Tips and strategies for troodon in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Ok, I see people saying, ‘tame a bunch and use them as guards!’ Or other scenarios where you ‘tame a bunch’. You do not tame these. They will kill you before you know they are there. Most of the time your tame will kill them because they have a small health pool, so people use, like, dodos. A level one troodon will need 2456 level 150 dodos
troodons ai seems to more cosistently attack a mounted player. if you're not mounted it's ai is left to RNG to decide if it will attack at all and has a long cool down. troodons will also try to attack whatever is carrying it and can attack when carried by an Argy. I had the best result when using a tanky argy and several (6) baby yutys (230ish) over roughly 30% maturity, all set to lowest follow, baby dinos flee unless whistled. when the troodon stopped attacking I picked it up and flew over my trap until it attacked again. when I landed I whistle all follow and moved as needed so all of the babies are getting hit. use the move command on a nearby spotif the yutys are blocking your movement. day/night only matters for exp gained and having additional troodons nearby for mate/pack boost did not increase the damage per hit as far as I could tell.
I was once told that they weren't aggressive during the day, so I decided to show my newb friend what they are and explain why they are bad.
Instead of an explanation, he got a demonstration.
Bola a nearby creature and run for the hills. Those glowing eyes will haunt you at night and watch innocently in the day. If you see two orange, glowing spots, you're in for an unpleasant party.
Better to tame at night just remember these little schemers are dangerous and will knock you out and also hit you while you are knocked out beware.....
Just tamed one of these with a baby argy at night on mobile. Babies seem to work well and don’t use adult Dino’s unless you have like a stock of them. You guys should try out baby argys and other baby Dino’s that are bigger
Use easy and common takes like parasaurs or phiomias. Recommend taming these creatures before a troodon. If you can get a pen, grab the troodon with an argy or something and drop it in. This way you have the troodon ready for taming
This thing is 1000 Satan's put together if you see hope they wanna get something else
I hate these they killed my pterodactyl
Combat
This section describes how to fight against the Troodon.
General
It is not advised to engage in combat with a Troodon in melee range as these cheeky buggers are small, move very fast, and their poisons cause rapid torpor gain that is not lessened by Riot Gear. Fight them mounted, or keep stimberries on your hotbar and constantly eat them while fighting. However the latter is less likely to work against more than one Troodon.
Strategy
Their venom only drains stamina on other creatures but adds torpidity to survivors, so as listed above it is advisable to fight them on a mount. Any mount will do, since Troodons have low HP, but high stamina is advised. If you must dispatch of a Troodon then do so during the day if you can help it. They can very easily conceal themselves in environments dense with foliage, rocks and trees so be sure to take all pack mates into account before attacking.
Weaponry
To combat a Troodon, use either a tamed & mounted dino or ranged weapons so it can't knock you out. You can also try to throw a bola at it. Then you can just use a range weapon, or a melee weapon with reach to kill it (i.e. Pike). Avoid getting too close.
Dangers
Troodons are considerably stronger at night. Their aggro range and speed increase by a large amount. A huge danger to early game Survivors. They also gain pack bonus similar to compies, max of +4 only works at night. Packs usually consist of 3-4 individuals.
Weakness
Long ranged weapons such as the Crossbow can nullify the Troodon's torpor effect if used properly. Troodon are scared of most light sources and will run away from campfires and torches, carry one on you to deter attacks
Long reach and knockback are key for fighting them
They're way to overpowered. Sitting up on a rock doesn't even help you half the time. They will kill you and you cannot outrun them.
I was heading back to my base, but it got dark and a pack of these attacked me knocked me out. My otter killed them all!
Sheild and pike or run for the rocks. Their bite knocks you out.if your lucky theyl kill u quick. Most likely they will dance on your body and occasionally bite you because they want to dance till the sun comes up
My friend was killed by one on switch and thought it said Ratoon and after 2 weeks of trying to figure out the mystery he was killed by it again but realized it said Troodon
At night time when you see one take out a torch cuz i think they run away when you do it. On the bad side If you don’t have a torch then you are done for and eaten for breakfast or snack or lunch or dinner or whatever time it is so good luck if you see one...
I tried to tame one of these things but it destroyed my trap so I killed it and I was walking away and then I got knocked out.
you must let them kill ur tames to tame them rip my spino😭
Only found in dungeons in ark mobile smh
