At lvl 72 with flak armor on, a lvl 5 Troodon knocked me out with one attack at night. Last thing I saw was those glowing eyes before passing out. My Guess is that they attack vital organs. Luckily my Doedicarus was up for a game of baseball and launched that little devil out into the stands.
Went to go grab a drop during the night on my dragon. I was wearing full Master Craft Flak Gear and two bites from these little sneaky bitches and I passed out. Luckily my dragon was on nuetral. Unluckily that it's fire breath roasted me too. Lesson learned:
Burn everything on fire before you get off your mount...
Step 1: make a taming pen.
Step 2: put a lvl 80+ baby wyvern into the pen. Knock it out if you want to and lower its health down to almost 0.
Step 3: Drop troodon inside while its eyes are glowing.
Step 4: Enjoy your tamed troodon
How to cope with troodon existence:
Step 1: Learn to create rope and tie a noose
Step 2: Learn and build a chair
Step 3: tie said noose to nearby tree branch and place chair underneath
Step 4: wrap the noose around your neck
Step 5: kick the chair beneath your feet
Step 6: Accept the death for it is a better to go then to watch as those glowing eyes mock you as they prance around your unconscious body for days. It never ends for they only kill when they no longer find you amusing.
Step 7: Put down the controller, turn off your console and go outside. Realize why you play this game to begin with.
troodons ai seems to more cosistently attack a mounted player. if you're not mounted it's ai is left to RNG to decide if it will attack at all and has a long cool down. troodons will also try to attack whatever is carrying it and can attack when carried by an Argy. I had the best result when using a tanky argy and several (6) baby yutys (230ish) over roughly 30% maturity, all set to lowest follow, baby dinos flee unless whistled. when the troodon stopped attacking I picked it up and flew over my trap until it attacked again. when I landed I whistle all follow and moved as needed so all of the babies are getting hit. use the move command on a nearby spotif the yutys are blocking your movement. day/night only matters for exp gained and having additional troodons nearby for mate/pack boost did not increase the damage per hit as far as I could tell.
