Andrewsarhcus are a godsend when taming these in fjordur cause you won’t get dismounted and can lure them to a trap easier

Haven't seen it mentioned yet, figured I'd toss it out there for players on Fjordur and Gen2... Those fish can be a terrible pain to get in the baskets, but if you're in shallower water, or your chosen fish is wandering near the bottom, you can drop a tent over it to hold it in place then set a basket up outside the tent, that way the fish doesn't swim away before the trap is ready

Ps if you need to unlock dlc engrams such as fish basket play Lost Island first if you don’t have the expansion, then play Fjordur.

When you go to tame a Shadowmane make sure to get big fish it helps with the taming effectiveness and the tame bar find 2.0 or bigger fish

Just tamed my first shadow mane and I have to say it was really easy, all you need is full gillie and at least 5 fish caught in fish baskets they have to be 0.5x or higher.

Seems to wake up if you approach it from too high above or below it. If you’re going to trap it, try to keep the trap on level ground. I had one trapped in a 3x3 square on a slope so it could move around a little, and it would wake up and lose tame progress when I came at it on an angle from the hill.

I’m on singleplayer and I also found if the trap was any smaller than 3x3 it would just bug out and not go to sleep.

Sneak up on these creatures when they are asleep and then feed them and run away

For me with the ghillie suit and cactus chowder I was still waking it up every time I approached its face, so the side or back is a must, approaching from the backside I was able to do so many times without even the chowder.

I can’t find Rockwell’s garden although I did find it once and became 𝗳 𝗿 𝗲 𝘀 𝗵 𝗺 𝗲 𝗮 𝘁 in the process… so sorry I can’t even find the robot. Well anyway I tamed one by wearing a gillie suit and sneaking up behind it when sleeping… you can’t tame them at night btw they don’t go to sleep at night. Passive tame with fish bigger the better and there you go. (This tip is for patient people)

Ok so try to lead them into a foundation and then trap them (dinosaur gates not bemoth) and then feed them through it before your fresh meat.

Ok so they don’t go to sleep at night and u can tame them using a fish basket p.s wear a gillie suit and make sure there are no creatures in the area, they attack everything. Crouch up behind it when it’s sleeping and tame.

Gmsummon “lionfishlion_character_bp_c” 1000 should do the trick.

Fish from 1.5. to 2.0 are the best, just remember that a 1.4 gives quite a bit less percentage than a 1.5, also when catching fish, check the size next to the level rather than by how big the fish is

If you use a net and then use fence foundations and some door frames you can trap it in there and it should fall asleep easy. But make sure there isn’t anything around it so it won’t teleport out! Good luck!

Very easy tame when in a trap I would heat get 1.0 and better fish only

Use a tent to catch the fatty fish and plase your basket next to it.. Enjoy

Found a easy way to tame these guys without losing ur life! Place 4 stone foundations and 16 stone walls on the ground. Hover above ur trap allow shadowmane to teleport to you and hence land in the trap.

After it falls crouch and feed it ur fish!

They start being tameable around 0830/0900 and stop being tameable around 1830. If it runs to a pack of them try to arrow the ones your not taming and aggro them away. If you can find 2.0+ fish taming is super fast.

The best way to tame is to build a small pen use the tek skiff and put it in. Then kill everything in the area and equip a gil suit. Take it out of the pen set it down in the center of the area you cleared. If you have a buddy have them sit on the tek skiff in the sky and let them tell you which way the shadowmane is facing. Sneak up behind it with a filled fish basket in you last hot bar slot (the bigger the better but piranhas are easier to catch) and feed it. If you cant approach its back don’t bother or it will wake up. Be patient and let it move and sleep again. Track it with the taming list sometimes it goes invisible and looks for you after you feed it. In gil suit crouch walk 15 meters back then book it after you feed it if it cloaks.
