I’m pretty sure that shadow manes are nocternol because while I was trying to tame a shadow mane it wouldn’t sleep and it was night and all it was doing was running after animals and fish hope this helped you :/

I play single player on ps4 and recently tame a Shadowmane. I leveled it to 11k hp and put levels into attack so it hit for about 250. I took it into the rock drake trench on Fordjour and found it was immune to radiation. One thing is that the Rock Drakes can sometimes glitch under you and lift you up in the air so watch out for that. If you grab a egg, you can totally go to the pool of water if you are cose and keep alternating between the dash and regular attack to kill all of the rock drakes.

In my opinion, trapping piranhas tame them easier. But are risky because you might die 😬but I mean I got a 104 shadow mane with only 2 fish traps with piranhas and I tried one without piranhas and it took me 3-4 😩. They are kinda tricky! Good luck! 👍

If you have one trapped and your solo...DON'T LEAVE RENDER DISTANCE

Fish baskets are best for taming. The bigger the better.

I have been breeding the shadow manes under the summer event now. 4 baby's in 1 maewing with 6 k raw meat last the whole night and several hours after. There have always been meat left when they turn adult. Around 1 k left

Fjordur, best mount so far.

Aquatic speed is great.

Taming fairly basic, ghillie or slow and patient.

Find good clefts and areas, or maneuver into a pen/trap area. Like equus, you feed them the fish baskets.

For the basket, in engram list, top of list is highlighted island, deselect and your list should expand.

Fishbasket should be available to make and use the area in Midgard both blue forests have fish and mats for baskets, as well as the shadowmanes spawning, at NIGHT. They have a pack bonus, so you might need to clear the others or poke/aggro a good one, have a fast mount or flyer if possible.

GFI Structure_Fish 1 0 1 = fish basket blueprint though it might need some adjustments depending on servers and such

For those on fjordur, you Can transfer your character to Lost island, learn the fish basket engram, and transfer back to fjordur, you character will retain all the learned engrams

If you drop hunt for good ghilli you can wear tek boots and chest plate so you can fly and ignore fall damage you can sneak up to the shadowmane and fly once you feed it.

At night Shadowmanes are dramatically more dangerous, there aggressive range gets significantly boosted and they actively hunt you and turn invisible.

Once they hunt you have to go a very long distance away before they de-agro. If you goal is to take out a group I advise you just pick them off with a longneck or at least bring a large mount like a Rex (something you can sit on the back of) so your not vulnerable when they dismount you.

Only tameable during the day not at night, because it only sleeps during the day

New favorite mount, absolutley love these guys, they can travel real fast, and can basically take one most things you'll encounter

If you aggro the taming meter resets to 0. Be careful not to make it angy.
