These apex predators are the most overpowered creature you can use on genesis part 2! They are tamed with fish baskets, the higher the size of the fish, the better the outcome of the tame! The shadowmanes have three attacks and two special abilities, that being the regular bite/clawing attack, the teleport attack, the ultimate, cloaking and pack roar. The shadowmanes are similarly to real lions, in the way that they are gestation breeders, and are found in packs. Best taming method is to use a gillie suit and sneak up on them, and REMEMBER! You need to crouch in-order to tame them! They are also the singular BEST creatures for fighting Rockwell prime, just bring a massive pack of females and males! The males can use a pack roar, as mentioned earlier, and the females can use a pack cloak. And now, survivors, we’ve reached the end of this log! Stay strong, and keep surviving! Trapping:

Locate one you want, place sleeping bags

Wait until day

Find a flat place *away from water* to build Trap

Net the one you want then kite away pack, leave render to reset AI

Now guide the one you want to the Trap and hover above and it should teleport in

Wait for it to aggro the walls then jet up out of render to reset aggro

Feed fish, do *not bump it*

probably THE best ARK creature so far, it can be used as a good travel mount due to the high jump ability, it can swim underwater really fast too, doesn’t have an oxygen stat so it can stay underwater forever, receives the spino’s hydrated buff, also a pack buff, the roar buff, deals an unholy amount of damage, also i almost forgot to mention the lightning stun ability, the invisibility, in my opinion it’s also a better ocean exploring mount than a basilo or even a tuso, they do get stunned by eels and jellyfish but a pack of 3+ will easily deal with that.

You can tell the genders apart because the males have a larger mane then the females. This is if u can’t see their tag.

IMPORTANT: When you have fish baskets if you put them in your hot bar and go into deep enough water the health bar of the basket resets!!! That way you can spend longer finding big fish and just keep getting the baskets wet till you are readyto tame your Shadowmane!

One strategy is to ride a tame with ”apex” status (I have verified rock drake and karkinos) and build them in from its back. Then you can better separate the low level ones as well as ensure you can approach it right.

You can make fish baskets in Fjordur. In the biome where they spawn in Asgard, hit the small white orb looking bushes. They give corrupted wood.

4 foundations

8 double door frame

4 hatch frame

16 stone walls

2x2stone foundation

Double door frames first level up

Then plate ceiling hatch frames above the foundations

Then stone wall box with no ceiling above that

Kite a shadowmane to attack you above the box and when it falls in get out of render distance as fast as possible so it stops attacking the trap. When it lays dow crouch beneath and feed it through the hatch frame.

Put a tent over a fish, then put the basket down and catch the fish.

If you're on Fjördur, Bring an andrewsarchus with its saddle so it doesnt knock you off

The shadowmane is very useful when tamed in earlygame because it is very easy to tame it and it does not require any saddle, it may carry you untill mid-game…

Definitely one of the most stressful teams I’ve ever had ever but it was worth it these things are freaking amazing!
