When raising they tend to eat alot more fish meat stick with raw meat or ull be filling troughs every hr

Fish from 1.5. to 2.0 are the best, just remember that a 1.4 gives quite a bit less percentage than a 1.5, also when catching fish, check the size next to the level rather than by how big the fish is

If you use a net and then use fence foundations and some door frames you can trap it in there and it should fall asleep easy. But make sure there isn’t anything around it so it won’t teleport out! Good luck!

Very easy tame when in a trap I would heat get 1.0 and better fish only

For Gen2 boss fight, tame 10-15 of these majestic creatures and a yuty. Get them some decent health and attack. Hop on your yuty with the Shadowmane’s on follow. Keep them on “attack your target” through the insane cave battle. Once in boss arena, proceed all the way to the main door. Turn off follow once they are all passed the back door. Once the back door closes, sealing you in, that’s when you want to whistle aggressive! Roar buff them as they charge through and start attacking everything. Then sit back and watch them destroy the tentacles while reactivating the roar buff when needed.

You will occasionally need to hop off the yuty during different phases of the boss fight so turn on the yuty’s auto roar for those parts but for the most part just stay on the yuty and keep the Shadowmane’s buffed.

Use a tent to catch the fatty fish and plase your basket next to it.. Enjoy

Found a easy way to tame these guys without losing ur life! Place 4 stone foundations and 16 stone walls on the ground. Hover above ur trap allow shadowmane to teleport to you and hence land in the trap.

After it falls crouch and feed it ur fish!

They start being tameable around 0830/0900 and stop being tameable around 1830. If it runs to a pack of them try to arrow the ones your not taming and aggro them away. If you can find 2.0+ fish taming is super fast.

The best way to tame is to build a small pen use the tek skiff and put it in. Then kill everything in the area and equip a gil suit. Take it out of the pen set it down in the center of the area you cleared. If you have a buddy have them sit on the tek skiff in the sky and let them tell you which way the shadowmane is facing. Sneak up behind it with a filled fish basket in you last hot bar slot (the bigger the better but piranhas are easier to catch) and feed it. If you cant approach its back don’t bother or it will wake up. Be patient and let it move and sleep again. Track it with the taming list sometimes it goes invisible and looks for you after you feed it. In gil suit crouch walk 15 meters back then book it after you feed it if it cloaks.

Taming a lower level shadowmane as a first carno, not a bad idea. Less feedings, still really good for a few missions (stryder). As you level up, so does its armor, at least until maxed. Hope this helps.

Make a 4 block stone area build stone walls up 2 times and if u did it correctly u should be able to fly above the trap and have it teleport to u fall in and leave render distence come back with fish and it (should be asleep) then when it slumbers go up feed it and when invis it wont nor can it leave the trap

Remember fish baskets can be annoying and extra heavy… you can always stock up fish by putting them in a cryo for safe keeping. When taming shadow simply toss out and trap them in nee basket for feeding! Have tamed nearly 75 with this method, enjoy!

Cactus broth is a lifesaver and makes it to where you do not need ghillie armor. It helps keep all the other dinos away too.

When you see one sleeping feed it filled fish baskets (If the fish is bigger the better) and once you do… RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! (Repeat this process until tamed)

only catch large fish not large as in species large individuals wear ghillie as insect repelent dosnt work on them sneak up on them at day like so ppl can see

Be sure to create a large pen it’s easier to sneak up on the shadowmane without it running off totally.

Best way I've found to tame is wait until sleeping, equip ghillie, walk up behind it crouched and use the harpoon launcher to net it... It will say "cannot feed - is not sleeping" but while still netted it will stand and curl up again... I can usually get two feeds in the initial net before it wears off, if you're on a boosted server that would be enough to tame one fully if you have really big fish size 2.0 or larger

Really fun Dino with there teleporting ability’s and the ability to turn themselves and other dinos invisible. Although that’s only female what has the ability to turn other dinos invisible Perfect for all terrain. Perfect for all terrain amazing swimmers so stick on your scuba and get those red drops at the bottom of the ocean Just be careful

to catch the fish, you can place a wooden cage around them so you can easily catch them in the fish baskets. I personally only catch Coelacanths with size 1.4 and I always get 100% effectiveness. Building a simple trap is very with it, too

When taming a Shadowmane, you first want to find the Shadowmane you want to tame and then you want to build a 2x2 box made of stone with no ceiling and ramps coming up from the sides to lure and trap the Shadowmane into the box. Then you want to craft fish baskets and catch fish for your Shadowmane, as fish inside of fishing baskets is the only thing the Shadowmanes will eat until tamed. Note: if you feed your Shadowmane Fish over the size of 1.4x, your Shadowmane will come out at 99.9% Taming affectiveness or level 224 for a 150. Once the Shadowmane is in your trap you’ll need to wait until it becomes day as the Shadowmane is Nocturnal, meaning it sleeps in the day and hunts in the night. Once the Shadowmane sleeps simply walk or crouch over to your box and feed the Shadowmane fish. If you’re unable to feed the Shadowmane fish through the walls then replace the walls of the trap with stone doorframes, although you’ll need to be careful as one wrong move and the Shadowmane wakes up, it may attack you and you’ll lose your taming affectiveness. Rinse and repeat until the Shadowmane is yours! Enjoy the tame and i hope this tip help you.
