ULTIMATE ATE GUIDE TO ROCK DRAKES ON ABERRATION
GETTING AN EGG
To get the egg on foot you will need this list:
You: hazmat suits(3) 15-20 climbing picks, pump shotgun or some other weapon, two cross bows with zips and grapples, and finally, one glide suit and one light pet
Tribemate to sacrifice: climbing picks(3) 2 hazmat suits, a weapon to kill drakes, and a weak light pet( it will die)
STRATEGY
This is a fairly straightforward strat, get in by gliding, set up multiple escape routes off of the nest, grab the egg and go. Once you are out have your tribemate start attacking the drakes to distract them. Climb/glide/run AS FAST AS YOU CAN and get out of there, once at a safe distance uncryo a megalo(that’s what I did) and go back to your base. You could also walk out of the red zone, but megalo/spino is easier.
HATCHING THE EGG
Now that you have an egg you can hatch it, but, it only eats nameless venom and takes about twenty air cons to hatch, or a ton of dimetrodons or a ton of otters. When hatched feed nameless venom and remember to grab some red gems for the saddle!
Hope this helped
Have a nice day!😛
More Rock Drake Taming & KO Tips
Take 6 air con units, one generator and fuel to the top of the snow area and that will work. Take a cryo pod and fridge to transport it back.
THE ULTIMATE SURVIVOR’S GUIDE TO FJORDUR:
Rock Drakes
Encountering - Drake Cave is hidden in one of the purple forests in Asgard, beware of radiation! It’s situated in one of the corners of the biome I believe.
Egg Stealing - Bring a strong mount, drakes pack a punch! 10k hp tame and 500 base damage recommended for higher level drakes. Andrewsarchus’ protection from radiation and raw power is recommended.
Egg Hatching - Eggs need around 2k hypothermic insulation (very cold) so use a dimetrodon with high melee (found in balheimr) or use air cons.
Raising - Baby drakes only eat nameless venom, mine this from orange cracked rocks in the aberration cave, purple geode cave in the southeastern Vannaland beaches. Drakes also imprint with the venom. Remember to grab some red gems in the cave for the next step!
Saddle - The saddle requires 225 fiber, 350 hide, 125 metal ingots and 85 red gems (remember the last step?) They also have an expensive TEK saddle for those end game players.
Congrats! You now have the perfect traveling/combat/stealth tame! The drake can be used for stealing Wyvern eggs under invisibility mode, and to escape in a pinch. Thanks for reading this ARK Guide!
- BrokeGibbon
They lose 1 point of food every 15 seconds, so to time how long until they start starving, multiply their current amount of food by 15 and then divide by 60 twice. This will give you the number of hours left untill the food stat reaches 0.
Equation:
((15 x food)÷60)÷60
As of october 14th 2021 rock drakes are now breedable
Heads up:
Something sus is happening in Fjourd. These creatures spawn in the Aberrant zones dotted around the map, what’s more alarming is that there are skin coloured rocks that when harvested produce NAMELESS VENOM!!! Please can someone add to wikis or put a tab on here if you find any rock drake nests in Fjourd…
Obtaining this creature will require you to enter the tek trench where puprle liquid and the nests of these creatures lay past the bioluminescent chamber, there you must steal an egg and raise in a cold environment feeding it nameless venom you can get by killing nameless
The rock drake trench can be found at 57,56 at the area of the map called grave of the lost. Recommend u bring a glider suit and climbing picks and if u have a good tame to fight the drakes. In the wild they can be invisible and can glide in the wild so watch out also wear a HAZARD SUIT it's needed. Lastly there are a lot of nameless in the area so bring a light source. Good luck and ohh it needs to be cold to hatch so air cons
Just use egg incubator to hatch it is way cheaper than 20 ac units
I recommend using cryopods when raising drakes, it’s slower but it’s less stressful and you don’t ruin your sleep schedule
Their eggs are the opposite of wyverns, they need to be very cold to hatch. It took mine 20 air conditioners to get to the right temp! You feed them Nameless venom when they hatch.
