Taming quetzal then: *Intense sweating and shooting*

You can just bet gun it and if there are a few of you, you can easily knock it out but if your in single then I recommend using the tapejera method which is also really efficient if there’s a few of you as you can easily take some low level tapejera and shoot off the back of it 10/10 recommend. Consider upping it for more people to see?

Often spawns at the world origin point (0,0) on the island, also around the green obelisk. CAN be chain bola'd although the options for doing this are somewhat sketchy. To solo tame you will either need to goad it into a trap as it flees, use a tapejara and dismount into the second saddle, or ride a paraceretherium or bronto w/ ballista turret attached up the mountain to try and trap it that way. You can also grappling hook onto a slow flyer like argentavis and shoot it with tranqdarts that way!

Use honey by placing it in your hotbar

and then pressing it

it will drop and lure the quetzal to the ground

be quick and place stone dino gates on top of it till its trapped (aim for center mass with the gates)

Keep dropping honey if it loses interest even when its flying even when its on the ground

wall it off with spikes and begin tranqing

easier than chasing it around while your grappled to an argy😂

Dont forget narcotic

P.s found mine (lvl 125 btw:) ) inbetween the 2 snow mountains on the island map

The longest way to tame a quetzal✨, first get 100 amber, and then find a griffins at the north west mountain in the island, pick a high level griffin, buy a change name card using 100 amber, and then use that change name card to change your name with the griffin you want to tame with its initial ( i cant explain it any better, just search it up in yt ) and then once it gains respect to you, lour it to your trap, and the give it narcotics after knocking it down, and then go to the south cave and get the artifact, and now tribute it to any obelisk and you'll have a chance for a 10× soothing balm, and then put raw prime meat in the griffin and the soothing balm, and once its tamed, go get rifle with tranc dart, and then knock down the quetzal while riding the griffin, you're welcome.

An easier way to trap and tame a Quetzal is to kill it, take its implant, build a big cage around an Obelisk, and revive it. You can then spam tranq arrows at it and tame your beloved Quetzal. Good Luck, Mate! ~WildRapter

Why does everyone say that you can only tame it with a Tapejara and honey? I tamed one without a Tapejara or honey and only used a Longneck Rifle with shocking darts on my Rhyniognatha with ten Exceptional Kibble. Let others know so they don't spend time getting lots of honey.

Solo players. Best way to tame this beast is to get a Griffin on Rag by making a trap with stone Dino gate, pillars and stone ceiling. Use a ptera to kite it into the box, dismount and shut the door behind you then knock it out with tranqs. Farm mutton from the nearby Highlands to tame.

For my first Quetzal, I was on my Pteradon and had my friend being carried with a crossbow with tranquilizer darts. I had to chase it for a good 20-40 minutes. He had to get the perfect angle. Probably isn't the most effective way,but still works. When we found another that was Tek, we used our Quetzal to follow it around and shot it with tranquilizer darts. It worked a lot faster.

Easy to get in a trap, first get a harpoon launcher and then get net projectiles guide it to a safe area then using a griffin shoot it wit the net it will fall to the floor then place 3 stone Dino gates over it and boom when the net stops holding it it won’t be able to move. Be warned if it wakes up after you leave render it might glitch through the trap make sure it doesn’t wake up. Hit the good button so people can learn - potato

You can easily tame a quetzal if you have a wyvern. Just whistle follow and dismount in midair and you SHOULD stay sitting on it's back. Then start tranquilizing it. Hope this helps :D

uhm when i fed my quetzal potent dust it kinda got knocked unconsious and it has like 6500 torpor so its gonna take a while

If you are on ragnarok just use a griffin because you can shoot off the back

For Mobile Players below level 85 wanting to tame this, first get a flying creature faster or as fast as A Quetz, Get a grapple hook and a crossbow, Plus Taming gear and while in midair near the Quetz, Jump off and shoot your creature with the grapple, Bring parachutes if You fall, and now you’re hanging on your creature with a grapple whistele attack target on the quetz and when it gets colse whistle passive, shoot the quetz with Tranq arrows/ Toxicant/ Darts And the whistle attack again and when close whistle passive, while doing this shoot it with knockout weapean and do it until it is knocked, but dont let it get out of range because you wont be able to whistle attack and you’ll be stuck.

Ez to knock out, I recommend using a desmo or any flyer who can allow holding crossbows

Quetzals are one of the most useful dinos in ark. But when trying to tame one dont lead it through the redwood, me and my buddy were taming one and it flew through there. Long story short we got ambushed by a thyla and we lost all our taming gear and a high level argentavis

Use a desmodus. You can shoot on its back and it can fly backwards.

Use a netgun when it flies above ground. Once netted, either have a trap ready for high levels or shoot tranq arrows into their eyes(more dmg). It you have a buddy, have them shoot with tranq darts while you shoot into the eyes with arrows. Be careful though as they’re kinda wimpy at times. Super hard to tame while solo without a net gun.
