What are tips for quetzal? Tips and strategies for quetzal in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Get the first shot in the head then go for bodyshots, prevents to much torpor depletion..
Build a platform on another quetz.. use 4 stone foundations then add ceilings to them.. on the top add 3 dino gates without the doors but don't clip them together.. keep an extra in your inventory for when you catch a quetz so you place it to keep the quetz in place and it will stay on the platform after it is knocked out and you can tame it in the sky.. add a ramp at the front to make it easier to get up the back but make sure you have ceilings going right around to the front so you won't fall off
Tame a argy with enough stamina & movement speed and pick up a team mate and he can easy shot him down

Have a friend pick you up in the claws of your bird (preferably a argy) and shoot it from there.
Best quetzal cage I've found is made of gates. Just need a 3x3 base, four normal gates in a square (leave small gaps between them, and optionally a pillar with a ceiling. Just drive until the quetzal is between the gates and stop/hop off yours - it will be unable to flee if its body is inside the gates and you're free to knock it out or kill it if it doesn't meet your standards.
Farming them near red obelisk is ideal for me, if you don't like the level of the one you trapped you can kill it and another will spawn almost immediately.
This is a good mount to overpower your tribe. You are able to hover above gigas and shoot tranx without it touching you. You can build turrets and a whole base on the quetz. Go to the red obelisk to get one. This Dino will make you OP!!!
Solo tame for your first low lvl Quetz. Pick a tamed Scorpion(high melee is better) up that's set to agressive with an argi that has good speed and fly it close enough to the Quetz, let it attack, count to 10 and repeat
Knocking out your first quetzal and you don't have a quetzal to help? Have a tribemember hold you with a pteranodon and fly in front and above the quetzal and have the person being held tranq it repeat until down
I'd suggest using the argy-grappling hook method for a solo quetz tame. If you have a tribe to help you, use the pick-up-friend-with-a-bird method and let them shoot at it. With both methods, however, try to avoid going into any redwood forests, as the quetzals can be hard to find from within the trees. Also, if you think you're close to knocking it out, make sure it isn't near water.
This app really helps! I have been wanting to know how to tame things that eat kibble! And know that I know how to make it, TAMING IS A SLICE OF PIZZA!!! XD
Start off by taming low lvl quetz, then put a platform on it. Have buddy fly low lvl quetz with u on platform, along the side of it while u shot it. Make sure to tranq within 10 to 15 sec. Or torpor wI'll deplete.
Buy a low level quetz off an alpha make a catcher*, go to red on and kill low levels till you get 140+ with good health role. Make a platform saddle and build is so ramps block the bottom, put mini gun on the back and pump movement speed. = dragon assassin. You won't have to worry about scorched earth trolls anymore lol.
Have a ptrenadon with high whight and stamina
Kill all low level quetzals you can find while a buddy hangs out around Craig's Island. Flying out towards the nearby blood red lake and then back allows the new wild Quetzals to spawn in. Two spawn in at the same time, if you only see one then there is another wild quetzal that you haven't killed yet.
Try luring it in a cave so it gets stuck
If you are near a mountain or place of high elevation shooting the quetz so it runs into the direction of a wall or pillar of some kind is ideal. After it hits the wall hover above the bird and block it from flying up. Hop off your bird and begin shooting. I have used this to solo tame lvl 55 quetz a few times.
Dont waste tranqs. Wait about 5 seconds between each shot for maximum effectiveness. Raw prime meat taming is possible but level 20 or lower is recommended unless you have a large amount of time. Aim for head\neck area, and be careful not to put it down over water or in dangerous\ hars to relocate areas.
