Chapter 8

- The Nazgûl

“The attack must be postponed.” Spark said.

They had just gotten in to the meeting room as the plans were being finished.

“Why?” Joe said.

“It just has to be.”

“That is not a valid answer. We can win this. We are fired up. The attack will commence.”

“Look Joe. Alex said we won’t succeed in a frontal assault. We just need to postpone it for half an hour until Alex finishes here scouting run.”

“This better be worth it.” Joe said.

“Oh it will be.” Spark said under his breath.

Meanwhile, Alex had found a spot to sneak in. Once through the door, no one was there. She snuck to the power room. She planted all the c4s. 20 minutes left. She snuck around looking for the control room. The soldiers must have all been preparing for battle. After about another ten minutes, she found the control room. She shot the officer before he could alert anyone. She began to seal the exits.

“So you have come to stop me?” A voice said from behind her.

Alex hit the button.

“The doors are sealed.” She said.

She shot the controls.

“Permanently.” She finished.

“Care for a duel? Might as well go out fighting. Besides. I would love to have the honor of killing Alex Stone.”

Alex was somewhat surprised he knew her name.

“The battle won’t be with guns. I know how deadly you are with range. We will fight with swords.”

He tossed her one. She studied him. He wore riot armor, but a flak helmet. He then removed his helmet. A charred face stared at her. One eye was white. He had clearly been through fire.

“If you actually know me, you will know I am deadly with a sword as well.”

“If you use a sword, I may have a chance.”

“Well, we’ve got five minutes.”

“Plenty of time.” He answered.

The fight began. Neither was winning, then again, neither really cared. They were both dead anyways. Five minutes later, the bombs blew. Flames engulfed everyone.

“Well Spark, thirty minutes are up. She isn’t back. I have one question though. What was she doing on that scouting mission?”

Just then a huge rumble shook them. They looked at emberfall. It was in flames.

“There your answer Joe. Now are you glad we only lost one soldiers life rather than all of their’s?”

All the soldiers celebrated. No one much knew what happened. All they knew is no more fighting. The war was won.
