On mobile u can kill any fish harvest it’s meet and passive tame the otter.on other u have to kill a saber tooth or piranha and drag it’s body to the otter to make it eat it and tame it that way.but yeah

They spawn near the red woods rivers and lakes but that’s for mobile and they tame faster with raw prim fish that’s mobile also

Even when tamed, they ONLY EAT FISH MEAT! I was lucky and found this out before my otter even started farming! Garnet is a helpful little boy. Gon’ get him a W I F E

On mobile: You can tame it passively by feeding it, prime fish meat > cooked prime fish meat > raw fish meat > cooked raw fish meat.

You can pick them up with Argies and tame them right in your base or if you have taming food on your hot bar, you can tame them in the air while the argy is carrying them.

They can’t carry artifacts on mobile but they still insulate both you and fertilized eggs.

Fun fact:Otter spawns at any river maybe a bit rare of them but if you have 2 otter and mated make a farm to became common but on waterfalls it has 45% to spawn on rivers 20-35% but on large rivers(including shore rivers) it has 10% cause of the danger if you tame it anything you kill he/she will gather meat/prime meat/fish meat/prime fish meat on dead bodies up if this help

Grab the otter with your argentarvis but not with the claws, instead do it with the beak. That way you can carry him from river to river searching for big fish while he is sitting with your argi. Remember to change your argi to passiv

There so cute and I love them if your in the right world they spawn like hot cakes near the swamps

On Mobile the taming percent went up about 12.2 (for a level 8)

Find out can tame it while carry with argy.. put fish meat on hot bar and tap on fish meat while flying (mobile)

To tame one don’t punch it will have a 0% chance of getting knocked out tame it with raw fish in your hot bar or drag a fish over to it a dead one okay

On genesis if you teleport arctic north you can find otters on the frozen lake it's a lot easier since they tend to run around on the lake and not swim in the water, they also usually have blue,brown, or black in their color schemes

Who like to tame just pick it from petra and just feed it it's the best way to tame it don't waste more time on following tha otter

On mobile you passive tame with raw fish meat! For a level 20, 1 raw fish gave a 9.4% taming so it took around 11 fish meat to tame. After the first feeding interval, it got hungry again after around 30 seconds each time.

Otters are incredibly hard to find and will occasionally wander off while you look for another fish.

A great way to solve this problem is by using an Argentavis and picking up the Otter you wish to tame in its beak (C on PC, R3 on PS).

Once you land, the Argentavis doesn’t drop the Otter but rather keeps it in its beak.

Now you can freely go find some fish without worrying about your Otter escaping.

If the Otter is in water, you can either use an Equus with a Lasso, Wild Flowers, or Honey to bait it out of the water.

Near the redwoods is a good place to find one.

It's a handfeed tame give it fish meat and your fine the can be great when you are cold just pick them up

This is the way I like to do it it’s probably one of the best way to tame a otter:

1: locate otter. One of the best places to find them on the island is the river around the redwoods this is where I find my otters

2: use argy to pick up the otter in its beak (not talons) and then land on the shore

3: go in the water and kill a fish and bring them up to the otter, (you might have to jump) do this until the otter is tamed

So, having a hard time finding one? Well if you do find one, listen really closely to the sounds it makes. Then, to tame more, just simply fly over rivers (not swamp rivers) and listen for that noice. It’s especially easy when you have 5 otters trying to make their noise over 15 other tames :/

I found them in a cave around viking bay 2, sometimes need to kill all the fish in there as they share the same spawn space.
