The otter has two abilities, one giving you more insulation and it scales with the otter's melee (so only level the melee) and it is also the only creature that can carry multiple artifacts at once. And it can also where a helmet.

Listen to me when I say, you will NEED one of these if you’re gonna survive in Fjordur and you have a hard time getting fur armor. And especially if you’re wanting to travel to the blue portal.

Can hold multiple artifacts can keep you warm and can keep you cold conform you white pearls and also just a really cute pet to keep around in a really easy to tame but hard to find but it is worth it. I suggest getting otter as soon as you can early game.

Do not take it with you if you are in danger of getting knocked out as it will get thrown off your shoulder if you fall unconscious, leaving a squishy pet vulnerable to whatever is attacking you - in my case, eurypterids.

I've found my 5 otters in two spots. The first two where the beavers spawn near the waterfall area where there's that one cave (27,48.4) on the top of the waterfall the little water area below the beavers & then the other with the beavers above. Second spot (no cords, sorry) near the blue OB where there's that big area of water with that huge weird tree in it. Hope it helps!

this is easily the best shoulder pet in the entire game like after a couple levels health and melee go up so much so he can help and protect you at least a little he helps regulate your body temperature so you don't get hot or cold and this is just adorable don't forget the fact that he can hold artifacts

(I’m on mobile) I just built a box without a lid (1 thatch foundation, 3 thatch walls, 1 thatch door and 1 thatch doorframe) by a lake so I could fish for fresh food to tame then I hopped on my pteranodon and I followed the river around the red woods (without the swamp) to find one of these lil guys and pick him up then took him to the box I made and put him in it. Turns out the for some reason the otter wanted COOKED fish… luckily I had some already so I just fed him that and some soothing balm and he tamed in about a minute. DO NOT READ THIS TIP THINKING ALL OTTERS EAT COOKED FISH IN MOBILE. Up if you found funny or helpful

Only dino i know that can hold 5 artifacts same or different in its inventory plus upping its melee helps alot with the temp. Makes it a great shoulder mount for caves.

you can use otters to carry multiple artifacts

They move pretty fast and you can loose them easily, so I suggest making a pen to put them in. Having a Ichthynoris is quite useful to catch salmon as you don't need to be in the water fighting them, the bird will snatch it right out of the water and bring it to you.

On mobile, if you make them target and attack a creature, the creature won't attack it. (I think. It happens to me)
