Breed them . Their eggs hatch real quick 3-5 seconds

Use a net to tame them makes it much easier

I knocked this thing out without a net only a my equus took 4 buck kicks

Took 17 tranq arrows with a primitive bow. It tamed with mutton just fine.

If you are looking for an easy tame to just get around the map, one crossbow tranq to the head will knock out level 23 or lower (what I know so far). Saddles are easy to make, such a nice tame for traveling fast

Trap it with billboards it's so easy just place like 5 ontop of it wen it's not moving and it won't escape

Holy hell these guys are fast! I'm the kind of guy who hates building traps, and for these guys I would say if you're crazy like me then you don't need one. How I tamed my first one on lost island, is I used an equus and a crossbow with tranqs. It was very low level, and only took two shots and a kick, but they run away so quickly. Once you have one though, taming others becomes easier. But don't do what I did, just use a billboard trap.

If u got nothin but a sign and clubs tranq arrows etc I recommend to wait for it to poop it takes a bit longer then waiting for the perfect moment for it to stay still then trap it

The only thing you really need is a bow and at least 20 tranq arrows, the creature got low torpid so it will be knocked out quick, and even after it glides away you can quickly catch up to it.

These things are also breed able and give random eggs even at low levels.

I used a net gun for my first one got it yesterday it was lv 48 got to lvl 84 around that and it was a two shot with a crossbow

You can tranq them right after netting them if traps are not working out.

On the Fjordur map in the pond 25:85, for some reason they spawn but glitch and get stuck underwater. They are super easy to tame underwater with just a crossbow since they can't fly and escape.

Step one: Net projectile

Step two: tranq darts to face

Step three: kill ovis for mutton

(they are lots around the area on lost island)

Step four: feed and tame.

Step five : you have a meeting cryo pod and bring it back to you base. 😊 I hope this is helpful

Just get 1 or 2 big bear traps place them next to each other then put giant bee honey in the trap the maewing should come and eat the honey and get trapped then nock out I literally tamed one when I was at level 30 first thing I tamed.

How to make a easy trap

Place billboard around the maewing like you would a procoptadon to trap it. Warning these things move around a lot when they are trapped so you have to place the billboards fast. Then make 2 or 3 pillars and place them right beside the trap and stack the pillars on top of each other. Then get 1 or 2 ceilings and place 1 on the pillar and the other should snap to the pillar and be over top of the maewing trapped in the billboards. The ceilings prevent the maewing from jumping up and flying away once you hit it. These structures can be whatever material you want because the maewing won’t break them. You can club the maewing out. Ps I do this on official so I know this works.

If you want to get a maewing you should get a net gun but most starters don’t have net guns so I recommend that you catch a low level one that takes one or two crossbow and try with it to catch a high level because even high levels just take 5 to 8 crossbow,

If you don’t know what food to feed it because you don’t have a lot of stuff to get prime meat don’t worry because at lost island where the maewing spawn you can find tons of ovis that gives mutton and it is one of the best foods you can feed it.
