Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a hesperornis? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a hesperornis.
Easy taming trap that helped me, got four back to back. 1 foundation, 4 window walls. Place foundation down and two walls up, hit hesperornis let it agro on you and lead it to foundation and trap it in with the remaining two window walls. Fed (through open window slot) it sabertooth salmon 1.0 and higher for faster tame.
Breeding seems to take about 28 hours.3.5hr egg 3hr baby.
Taming tip: tame a male and female 150 giga, mate them, then trade the eggs for level 20 hesperonis.
Worst. Tame. Ever.
At least on Xbox, pressing Y to feed is near impossible, especially with a large fish. And if you are trying to tame it on land, and miss the feed with Y and drop the fish it will either A) be eaten by the hesp and give you no credit, or B) float into the air and not allow you to grab it again, even when targeting.
Solo taming a 145 spino and tried a 45 hesp while witing. Spino is almost done and I finally gave up after 3 salmon in a row floated away into orbit.
Taming a high level is painstakingly slow, especially if her mate is lurking around. Only .5 to 2.0 % for a SALMON! I would rather poke my eyes with ice picks than tame another one. But seriously make a 1 foundation with 4 walls trap with ramps on both sides. Make sure you put a ladder in side as you will need to get out after you fed it. DO NOT use a door and doorframe as you may mistakenly open the door when trying to feed it and it can get out. Aggro the bird and lead it up and into the trap.
Screw this shitty version of the penguin. A Giga is easier to tame and 100x more useful.
We had a raft with walls all around it and the entrance was a door with some stairs so we ran into it with the door open and it went right in, then we just took turns bringing it fish, it took about 30 minutes and only escaped once.
Pain in the ass to tame. If you want a large egg, tame a Mouschops, way easier.
How to tame?
Go to a small lake, they are usually there.
Check the water temperature in the lake *at night*. You're going to be in this water for a very long time. If there are sabertooth fish in the lake, it is a significant bonus.
Clear the lake of any predators, you're going to be there for at least three hours unmounted, so be prepared.
Enter the water and start killing fish. Take their bodies and arrange them on the beach. Take one corpse and approach Hespronis from behind. Feed him the fish's body. Continue like this for three hours, as you chase him like a madman in the water throughout the day and night.
Put it on your shoulder, smile.
I haven't encountered these yet and this is just a maybe but i think maybe you could use a pteranodon or some other flyer that can pick up animals, you can make a 1x1 hut without a roof and drop it there, and make it be right next to a water source with fish to make the process quicker. If the water source is shallow enough you could use something like a trike or a baryonyx to insta-kill a bunch of fish, and I'd probably recommend saber-tooth salmon since coelocanths give too little taming effectiveness and i don't think piranhas are worth the hassle.
Like i said, all of this is a big maybe, and maybe it doesn't work
How to tame a hesperornis
1.knock it out and realise that ur a beach Bob
2. forcetame it
Don’t tame … takes too long and is crap
I was taming it, when it got to 81% after about 30 fish or smth it ran in front of me and got hit and went all the way down to 0.1 taming.. 1like = 1 more taming %
Feed while they are swimming cum up under them so much easier need them for their golden eggs. Then you don't have the fish in the way out in front of you
Just kill a creature near you.
Use piranha the taming % will be higher than other fish.
God alive they don't want much do they
Tried to tame one earlier (you gotta drag them fish. Don even do their own hunting like! Lazy birds) kept dropping the fish trying to feed them taming bar ended up going down when I was on 25.7% I gave up beestrd birds
Aka pelicans on alcohol pls up
Chapter 1 the attack.I was wanting to lead a hesperornis to my base (which was 4 torches in the North zone (when he started attacking me and I lead him to my base which he destroyed my base
A 3.1x size salmon only gives 9.3% taming effectiveness to a lvl 150 on singleplayer, and loses 0.6% taming effectiveness, making it virtually impossible to tame a hesperornis with a base level of 224.
No, this isn’t a tip…. But I just got done taming one of these…. and it felt like I was in passionate of the Christ. I’m on Xbox a.k.a. Xbox controller.. this was a really torturous experience.
Followed one of these around as close as physically possible while holding a fish corpse. So close that the "feed fish" gray text was on screen, but never turned blue like when feeding a basilo. Also clicking the action buttons wouldn't feed it at 0 range. Woohoo looks like I'll have to force tame it or spawn a tamaed one. I love having to use console commands to make up for developer durpery. That's probably why they're in the game tbh.
Don't tranq it... the dex doesn't tell you that for some reason... drag fish to it and press the interact button to feed it.
