How do I kill a dung beetle? dung beetle encountering and battling strategies in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
You can find these on the center of Extinction, sometimes nearby the swamp area.
In Genesis they are also roaming around the swamp.
On Valguero, these can be found within the Wyvern Trench in the northeast of the map. Go to the bottom of the trench's eastmost side to see a river of lava flowing into a cave. You'll find dung beetles in there, along with arthropleura, pulmonoscorpius, mantids, and araneomorphus. Visibility in the cave is low, so I recommend using first person while on your mount inside and maybe turning up the gamma. It is extremely easy to kill one of these while fighting other creatures in the cave, but if you spot one before you get to fighting, you can try to avoid it until you're done. I highly recommend getting a wyvern to help you do this beforehand, due to the dangerous nature of the area. They will help you avoid wyverns on the way in and out (which are territorial and may pursue you, and you can either defeat them or outrun them) and they will also help you in the cave. As long as you are mounted on a wyvern, arthropleura, pulmonoscorpius, mantids, and araneomorphus will not attack you, until you start attacking them. The minute you dismount, they will come for you, so you can use this to your advantage to defeat them and/or lead them away from the dung beetle you want. You can hold a tamed dung beetle while flying the wyvern. :) Good luck and happy hunting.
It usually found in caves, in the easy south cave is one of the best locations to tame them
Can easily be mistaken as an araneo from afar, be sure to check before you shoot if you plan on taming one of these!
An easy area to find the dung beetles is the south cave.
Tip for fjordur:
Can be found in the dung beatle cave in the red woods located at 25.1 LAT and 93.1 LON. It's just a small little cave full of these little fertilizer machines.
ON lost island u can find them on swamp beaches
How do they have so much health for such a small thing
For those people playing mobile,
These aren’t only in dungeons, they are also found in the south cave AND lava cave! Trust me, I’ve seen them in there. The ones in caves usually want spoiled meat, but I’ve done passive tames and if it says, for example, (on a diplo) “feed azulberry to tame” you don’t have to. You can give it kibble instead. So I guess you can give dung beetles poo if they want spoiled meat. Raw meat also works to tame them. Oh, and have yourselves a good day with beetles! (Sorry it was long.)

They unessesarily agro on you if you touch them. I don't even know why.....
Found in blue on abberation. They are also on the natural tamp that leads down to it if you want to go there.
They’re sure cute and knock out well with large poops ~ anxious St0ner
Often Seen Near Green Obelisk on Extinction. On the path beside the Canyon.
My dung ate my newly hatched sarco. Devastated.
they attack when you hit them, but they usually don’t have much health nor melee- just stab it with a spear or whatever you have. they’re great tames so there’s really no point to kill them, tho.
good luck survivors <3 !
I was in a cave trying to tame a megalosaurus And a arenao came out of no where I was attacking it I
Accidentally hit a dung beetle and it started attacking me
Humans can carry this but not a Kaprosuchus. How dare u!
the dodo of the caves
A bunch spawn in the artifact of the cunning cave, between the volcano and other mountain in a plains area, you can tame a bunch and transport to base from there.
