Encountering Tips

How do I kill a dung beetle? dung beetle battling strategies in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Probably the most powerful creature on the whole island
On the island, I think the easiest place to find them is in the lower south cave. Go in with a longneck or a shotgun, turn left at the first intersection, kill the boas and spiders I. The first chamber, near the end of it there’s usually 1-3 beetles. Tame, and carry back to base w/ Petra. Easy fertilizer.
A good Southern Cave Set
Longneck Rifle: Keep enough ammo and durability to one shot low lvl Spiders and boas
The Direbear hunt Sword: Obtained through the Direbear Hunt Quest on Mobile, very powerful in a close range setting
Whatever you loot from the corpses: You can find weapons in these guys(somehow), which can keep you going for longer
Pike: If you absolutely run out of options, but don’t want torpor inflicted, this is a good option to keep them away, looted spears work well too.
Spoiled Meat: If you happen to knock out a creature there or stumble across a dung beetle, don’t hesitate to tame one so your life is easier.
Jerky or Cooked Meat: Cooked food restores a little hp every time it’s consumed, and jerky lasts longer(Cooked meat can also turn into spoiled meat)
Water containers: There is little accessible water in caves, so bringing some will be your best ally.
An Aggro Immune Mount: Some say that a cave tamed Araneo on mobile has the immunity to aggro like itchys, just so long as they fit through the entrance
A torch: So you can see without the light of crystals
Strong Armor: While most creatures in the south cave do little to no damage, the centipede is one of the toughest and deadly foes in there.
Up if you found the set helpful
If you wish to find these, look hard in the south cave. There is bound to be one there
They can destroy wooden structures. I was in the east underwatercave for deep SEA loot and Had a 1x1 wooden House with a bed. I had No weapon and so a lvl 200 dungbeatle Killed me nearly, Destroyer my bed and my foundation not what i expected.
I have only seen these in caves so far but they are useful for fertiliser when you are growing crops and Plants Species X etc.
The dung beetles are often found in caves and around swamps
these are amazing, i made an island for them, they love it!!
If your playing on the lost island you can find some in the swamp
On Extinction you can find them in the south-east of the sanctuary.
On Valguero, they only spawn in the scar so be careful for Wyvs but grappling hooks work perfectly in PVE if you’re alone. I used a PT for easy getaways :)
U can find loads of them in the center's lava island cave
I found one of these unclaimed on the beach, 22 seconds from dying of negligence, i claimed brought to my base and named it goober, later that night all my progress was gone due to some dude with a quetz
I find it best to go to the valcano on rag me and my tribe mate we’re able to tame about ten dung beetles there. I recommend bringing a Phiomia And some stimberries for quick poop. It can get a bit dangerous so also bring something with strength personally I just brought a wyvern and it worked fine.
On Ragnorak you can find them in the volcano biome beside the highlands . Very easy tame just use a couple of spoiled meats or dung. They have to be on wander to produce fertilizer, i keep mine in my greenhouse.
Found in dark biome on ragnarock
On Valguero, these can be found within the Wyvern Trench in the northeast of the map. Go to the bottom of the trench's eastmost side to see a river of lava flowing into a cave. You'll find dung beetles in there, along with arthropleura, pulmonoscorpius, mantids, and araneomorphus. Visibility in the cave is low, so I recommend using first person while on your mount inside and maybe turning up the gamma. It is extremely easy to kill one of these while fighting other creatures in the cave, but if you spot one before you get to fighting, you can try to avoid it until you're done. I highly recommend getting a wyvern to help you do this beforehand, due to the dangerous nature of the area. They will help you avoid wyverns on the way in and out (which are territorial and may pursue you, and you can either defeat them or outrun them) and they will also help you in the cave. As long as you are mounted on a wyvern, arthropleura, pulmonoscorpius, mantids, and araneomorphus will not attack you, until you start attacking them. The minute you dismount, they will come for you, so you can use this to your advantage to defeat them and/or lead them away from the dung beetle you want. You can hold a tamed dung beetle while flying the wyvern. :) Good luck and happy hunting.
In Valguero I saw some of them on the bottom of a dragon nest along with Titanoboa's too and I believe Mantis too (don't remember too well) anyways I only found out because sadly ice dragons are gigantic jerks and froze me at the same time that my pteranodon ran out of stamina as I started to descend down to the lava I spotted the dung beetles before dying and losing my stuff. So if you have strong tames head to the snow zone and it should be around the edge of the top right side of your map once you see the ice dragons flying around there nest shouldn't be too far fly down and it should be there.
Literally my favorite creature in all of ark. They’re cute and resourceful.
You can find these on the center of Extinction, sometimes nearby the swamp area.
In Genesis they are also roaming around the swamp.
