The Direwolf is a vicious wolf that comes in packs, so I will tell you a guide to it. #1. The dire wolf can be found in any snowy area, but also the desert. They come in packs of 3 to 5, so be careful. They also are known to attack mammoths to kill them. They are a really good mount to tame. #2. To tame a dire wolf is simple. All you have to do is knock it out, and put meat in it. If you want a certain one in a pack, kill off the others. They have one attack, a standard bite, but can leap very far, are really fast, and have a pack buff. The pack buff will let you absolutely shred anything in your way. You must have at least 2 wolves for the pack buff. #3. They can be white, dark gray, light gray, sandy colored, brown, or I think black. They will usually be found in hostile territory, so kill any other Dino in the area around them. If you have a lot of high levels, you can destroy almost anything with them. Great exploring mount, especially when playing with friends. In a pack, Dire wolves can bring down creatures much larger than themselves. They dont require a saddle which is great, but that also means they have no armor. Level health and melee.

These guys are BEASTS at harvesting hide. I was crafting a master raft therzi saddle (you need abt 4000 hide) I just used my direwolf and I got 4000 hide so quickly

I can’t recommend these guys more for running caves. They have great knockback, keeping snakes and scorpions away, and they can be tanks if their health is lvled enough (10k is MORE than enough for caves, and alpha battles) they also fit through the exit to the Artifact Chamber in the Hunter’s Artifact cave, making it so much easier to clear that cave again, and again, and again. -BrokenWolves

Just finished my pack of 17 wolves and I must say they are underrated.

If you tame a pack of high level wolves you are pretty much unstoppable

For the new Nordic map maybe they could add Frenir wolf as a boss or a tame. Please make it green for an ice wolf frenir tame. The devs need to know.

when it sits, using RS on xbox (R3? on PS, right thumbstick), it detects explorer notes. it uses 1 food to do it. so useful!

The ideal amount of health you want to give your wolf is about 5000.

Get a pack of 10 a go kill everything

It's super fast with the jump so if your getting chased use it and say gotta bye

Tame a some max levels and do some breeding then they can tear down a brontosaurus in like barely 5 seconds with the pack buff

Direwolfs can be use in cave runs or to gather hide or pelt and wear helmets

Good for killing the random carno that spawns around your base. Get a mate boost to make a team that can rival rexs even at lvl 25-30

Bola and tranq for a good doggo

A dire wolf does more damage but take more because of the lack of a saddle, meanwhile a saber tooth takes less damage and does less damage and if you making a pack you need a couple of saddles.

I use this to run the cave between volcano and obsidian mountain. Works great

I don't know why this isnt mentioned but I just killed a couple of the moths on scorched earth for silk and the my dire wolf ran up and ate them but apparently they are super good at gathering silk...
