Tips & Strategies

What are tips for direwolf? Tips and strategies for direwolf in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
In ark mobile go strong cave kill one take its implant and revive it afte reviving you can tame a very high lvl dire wolf
You can do this with onyc also
People have been saying these are a good tame for early game, but they aren’t. Why? BECAUSE THEY LIVE IN THE NORTH ZONE, YOU DO NOT EVER GO THERE IN EARLY GAME. EVER. Also, hide is actually an easy resource to get in early game, they are just good for farming pelt, and that is difficult to get.
Ark mobile. If you go to the ice cave and just set up a wall of window walls with a doorway (stone or better) you can pen them in and tame high level ones. If you have the amber for revival you could just take the implants and revive them. If you want to sneak through and select the level and gender you want use an arthro and just lure the one you want away. They won't attack but they will follow you at first hit 50% health and 25% health. Make sure to pull the artifact right. Currently running 2 level 809s about to start breading. This works! Happy hunting.
These guys, despite being one of the best combat mounts in the island and mobile (and a few other maps that they are in), they are easy to get ahold of. Torpor doesn’t drop as quick, jumps incredibly far, doesn’t need a saddle, and hits like a truck. The only hard part in getting one is luring them away from its pack.
DO NOT take a group of these on by yourself without tames and without bolas, if your movement speed is low and your stamina is too, nine times out of ten you will die. If you are going to go out in a dangerous area on foot, be sure to always take bolas with you as one hit to a dire wolf immobilises them for quite some time, allowing you to escape unharmed. If you want to kill one of these bad boys I would still suggest using bolas, however once bola'd do not attack it from the front as it will still take a chunk out of you. Just strike it from the side or behind. I would only suggest taking a group of these things on with multiple people or multiple high level tames(preferably heavy hitters).
I was actually able to tame one that exceeded lvl 450.And boy was it strong.
My wolf’s name was Wolflin and currently lvl 830+
How did I do it?
Step 1: Pick a wolf you wanted to tame.
Step 2: Kill it and get the implant. By doing so,you can nust revive it up with a high but reasonable enough amount of amber.(I did mine with 40+)
Step 3: Once you do,bola it up.(Idk but mine destroyed metal bear trap)
Tranq darts works best for this,so that is preffered.
Now,after all this, you can tame it as you please.
South 1 on ragnorak is best place to tame finding solo wolves to a abundant amount, I would suggest a pen to trap with resources set by. Atone is best, Rock Holes tend to pop up here and there near by locations though they stick out easily, you can find sheep all over the area for mutton giving up to 35 on official servers.
Good bow or crossbow, an owl, and a trap knocked out in maybe 3 minutes. Just wait n starve it out then put some mutton works on a 150
I saw pack roughly 15 direwolves, and they were attacking a max level mammoth. After a few seconds, there wasn’t a single trace of that mammoth’s existence. Do not mess with them, especially when they are in numbers.
The Direwolves are very clearly a great, early game, cheap to use tame that is amazing at dealing with caves. I would recommend to tame one as quick as you can but stay away from the threats that the arctic has to throw at you, when tamed, the best utility they offer is gaining early game artifacts in a pack they gain a boost which is brilliant for eliminating those who get in your way.
This is how I tame them wolves:
You will need…
1. Bola (I sometimes do without)
2. PLENTY of ammo (I don’t mean just 5 tranqs people)
3. A flier (I recommend argy to pick up wolf and go out of snowy biome)
4. Bio toxin or narcotics (just in case)
5. Kibble, meat, or fish (fish is not meat)
6. Full armor (if no bolas you’re gonna need it…)
7. (Optional) Hide hat so your dog can become pirate dog
8. (Should have mentioned earlier) bow, crossbow, or longneck rifle
What to do…
1. Fly on flier and go to snow biome.
2. Locate a dire wolf (you should know what a wolf looks like)
3. (If on an argy) pick it up and carry it out of snow biome, as predators like saber won’t get it there
3. (If no argy or Quetz) lure it away from predators (maybe take some time)
4. Take out that bola (if you have one) and throw it at that bad puppy!
5. Shoot the beast with tranqs until it does it’s falling-asleep thing
6. Put the kibble, meat, or fish in inventory along with narcotics/bio toxin
7. (Opt.) place bed by dog so if you die
7. Guard your to-be-your-doggo with all your life/lives
8. Name him when he wakes up an’ take back your narcotics/bio toxins
9. Get out of there to your home it is!
10. Lvl him/her up!
If you got this far, note there is a pack so be suspicious if you see one on it’s own, as it probably isn’t alone. Also, don’t charge low-lvl wolf at alpha raptor, even if it’s close to your house, b/c I learned the hard way. R.I.P Winter, my first direwolf that I will always hold in my heart.
I tamed one (lvl-570)from the yeti cave and after I tamed it it is lvl 800+ , if you have a fully mutated one with 2k melee you can definitely take down a giga
On crystal isles, go to the wolf den around 70 45 in cords there's a wolf den, get a argi and grab a high lvl one then fly across the river, get slightly away from the wolf after u drop it then bolą it and shot in its head with tranq darts or crossbow if it's below lvl 100
to tame it you first need to knock it out and then feed it crank kibble. it’s easy to find a carno as well
