Dark Fate

Chapter 11

Darkwater flapped his small wings hurriedly. It won't be long before he and Vein get to the Palace of the Grim, the blood wyvern palace.

Vein stretched her enormous wings to fly. She whipped her tail, having a silent, angry expression on her face. She growled from time to time.

'I wonder what's up with her," Darkwater thought.

The two neared a giant, steady structure that was overgrown with leaves, trees, bushes and more. It was made out of compact dirt and it skirted the edges of a big circle with a lake in the middle. A black palace loomed over it all, but still inside the barrier.

"Woah!" Darkwater exclaimed. Vein hissed, flecks of red splashing a nearby boulder as they were flying close to the ground. It melted some of it, spurting steam as they flew by.

'Doesn't she want to be home?'

"Hold on, I need to hide you before I show you to Gore and Acid." Vein informed. She grasped Darkwater lightly with her back talons and hid him in a leaf pouch she recently made for storing food on trips. It was a dark green tint to the surroundings while he waited.

Suddenly, a thump startled Darkwater. The sounds of talonsteps on a loud material told him they were there.

Muffled voices came outside the beech leaf pouch.

"You have come back, I presume. Send her to the king." A voice said, Darkwater had to strain to hear.

"Only KING?" Vein sounded surprised.

"Yes. Queen Gore died in a giganotasaurus fight. She died bravely, protecting her kingdom."

Vein let out a relieved sigh. Darkwater tilted his head. Relieved?

'I'll ask her later,' he decided.

More talonsteps followed, and Darkwater felt himself move. They turned left, then right, then they stopped abruptly.

"Can I speak with my father?" Vein asked politely. A few more voices spoke, too far away and muffled by the leaf pouch to hear.

More moving followed, and finally..

"Father," Vein said somewhat proudly. "I am helping bringing down the Crystal Queen. She had terrorized all of us for ages, and we all believe to fight and defeat her. We need an army from each tribe. Will you lend your army?"

A moment of silence followed, and some shuffling around. A slight cough led to Acid talking.

"I will, though, I think I can trust you enough. BUT. You have to pay me your finest goods."

"You're my father! Why?!"

"I'm afraid I do not trust you as much anymore for leaving. Pay me now." Acid hissed, and then Vein agreed. "Okay."

She reached for the pouch with her tail, and light poured in. Darkwater understood. He grabbed a rare Crystal- one that can only be found in the deepest of caves. It had a dark blue tint and was speckled with gold. He handed it up and the blackish red tail slipped away, darkness swirling around him again.

"Here." Vein said.

"You may have the army," Acid said, pleased with himself.
