They spawn In the southern islets on the island but not too often so be patient They have the same spawn point as the sarco so be warned you might come across one

Do NOT attack one of these without a good weapon, especially if there are others present. One can kill you if you’re not prepared, and several will really mess you up.

[Ark Mobile] Live. In. The. Hidden. Lakes. Casteroides spawn there all the time so I have a constant supply of dams. I just have my tames kill them and I have a nice amount of cement paste, rare flowers and mushrooms now. Note: The occasional Sarco spawns in that area so have the equipment ready to kill them and keep your weaker tames protected in Dino pens! Also seal the Hidden lake openings close if you can, raptors and Therizs can wander in if you don’t! (SB: I play Single-Player Mode.)

This and the Beelzebufo are the most useful and versatile dinos someone can tame, especially when you're not playing on a public server where you have to worry about other taming things to fend off other players. Besides the awesome wood gathering, the Casteroides also has decent stats across the board, is a great underwater mount, and it's saddle functions as a smithy!

On mobile, usually they spawn on hidden lake or in the souther islets (where that hunter cave is lying down) if you see their dams get all of its resources-quit the game-and then re enter the game (it resets their aggro on you so you can farm wood without being hurt

Tame one of these guys and use him as a mobile smithy and he is good at gathering wood from trees

If you want their dams for their materials don’t hunt for dams take a tapejara i think the tapejara will work if not a quetzal grab on of the bad suckers and transport them to a nearby lake or river near your base and they will make dams you also might wanna clear the area of baddies

They are WAY Better at gathering berries than a moschops!

Try using soothing balm thats a good trick

Knock them out and leave, so you don’t have to wait for another to spawn

It’s torp drops incredibly fast , bio toxins work best to keep it sleeping

Bring at least more than 80 narcotics, these guys' torpor goes down at a ridiculous speed

Use an argy to grab wild ones and drop in an area close to your base. I have an area with over 20 wild ones roaming free. They will build dams even far inland. No need to fence them in.

It can take a while to tame, so make sure you bring it to a safe area. DO NOT LEAVE IT ALONE. You should probably sit there and watch the torpidity and feed it narcoberries or narcotics accordingly.(I gathered 400 berries and 50 narcotics, mine was level 38- Note that i didnt need this much, but be prepared anyways)

To knock it out, use something to bring it out of its group, maybe kill the group, but i personally used an argentavis to carry it out (it wont agro) then once in a safe spot, knock it out (i used bola and a crossbow) make sure its a safe spot, cause if you want to tame this, you arent leaving it for a SECOND. I gave it about 300 mejoberries, which was overkill, but i was worried. I now own one of these silly guys, and im going to build a huge wall.

On fjordur you can find regular dams all over Asgard! No more suffering through that giant beaver den in deinonychus territory!

Honestly I think they should make it to where if you put wood into a tamed one it should make a dam right

I found one and bolad it and tranqed it like normal and it’s health started going down like crazy. This was my first time ever trying to tame one and sadly it died😭. I think it should have lived

Up if you think they should be able to make wooden dams or even walls and/or structures when tamed (not all nice and clean and neat human structures though)
