The method I used to tame was picking up the beaver with my crystal wyvern and dropping it in a taming pen. Pretty easy knockouts but their torpor drop rate is INSANITY and you can't leave then for more than 3 minutes. Feed them either mejoberries or crops (kibble is really expensive but if you want to do that, go for it).
I wasted almost all my tranq arrows (I had like 70) to knock out a really high level beaver and I died probably like 20 times but it was all worth it because now I got a really powerful tame that none of my other tames can even compare to
Not sure why everyone discourages taming. I'm pretty sure the game replenishes their numbers every time the server goes through a wild dino wipe, and these little guys are really handy to have around for what little space they require.
Make sure no other Castoroides are around then bola it and shoot it with tranqs until it knocks out. Make sure you bring loads of bio toxin, because their torpor drains fast. I used this method and tamed one at level 42
Didn’t see this mentioned so I’ll share so someone else doesn’t panic like I did lol
Always bring some kind of torpor adding substance with you when taming if you don’t have/can’t make the kibble. If you’re taming with crops or berries, you’ll have to add narcotics or narcoberries etc to keep them out because their torpor drains faster than the time they’ll be tamed in. :) I’ve gotten a couple during the summer event now both under level 100 for the neat colors and used over 200 narcotic between the two? 🥴 Don’t remember the first, but used 110 on the level 70 I just tamed while writing this & had 97.5% taming effectiveness. ^_^b
These guys are easy to tame with a soothing balm. Im a beginner and just started a new game and im in the early 20's of the game. I had completed a pursuit before for killing piranhas, and as a reward i got a sotting balm. I was going to use it to tame a high level raptor, but it didnt work out. But since i heard that these beavers do dams, i wanted to tame one. I went after a 110 level female, and it took about 10 tranqs in the head. I boloed it and shot it in the head. I gave it the soothing balm and then gave it about 30 rockarrots at most. With the soothing balm, i suggest about at least 50 Narcotics. I used about 30, but if it is higher level, i recommend 50 narcotics. Just stay to guard your beaver and itll be fine if you keep its torpor levels up. I honestly dont know how many narcotics it takes to do without soothing balm but i hope this helped! Also, the coordinates of a safe place to find beavers is Lat:n98, Lon: 58.
