I was scared to shoot these things with tranq arrows and tame it but I shot it and knocked it out

It died due to drowning, lesson learned never knock a carno in the middle of a lake

If you have a flyer get on a rock the carno can't reach or on multiplayer get a friend and a flyer and grab your friend and let him/she shoot the carno with anything that has torpor

A low level carno is actually easy to knock out I shot a lvl 10 3 times with my crossbow and boom, it was out I knocked out a lvl 90 with a crossbow and a longneck rifle. PROTECT THE NOOBS!

It says that they don’t fit through double doorways but they can and I kinda found that out the hard way

Rookie taming method (worked first time):

1. Craft a larg bear trap (and about 15 tranq arrows)

2. Find a carno out In the open and easy to see/fire at

3.get carno to aggro on you (somehow) and walk into the trap

4. Tranq it quickly before it breaks out

5. Tame!!!

Word to the wise. When raising a baby Carno, remember they require more meat than baby Raptors. I lost a level 150 Carno while I was sleep lol

HOW TO TAME A CARNO

PREPARATION

At least 20 or so tranq arrows, (get as many as you need, check Dododex’s KO section), use a crossbow if you can to speed up the process. Get regular kibble, and if you don’t have one, then get a lot of meats, preferably prime meat. You do not need a trap for the carnotaurus; level up your speed and stamina a bunch of times and you can outrun the Carno. If you think this is dangerous, use a quetzal with platform saddle, or use a natural terrain like a small cliff.

KNOCK OUT

Here comes the intense part, knockout. Even if it may seem intimidating, knocking the Carno out is fairly simple. All you have to do is to find a spot, go on a quetzal with platform saddle, or run while shooting tranq arrows at the Carno. When the Carno is running away, chase after it, if you are on foot, this is where your speed comes in to play. Keep a safe distance away from the carnotaurus though because sometimes they fight back and fake you out. Shoot another few times until it’s knocked out.

FEEDING

Once it’s knocked out, you can feed it the kibble or the meats you have. You can stay next to it while it’s asleep or take the safer option, go away from it since they usually stay in dangerous areas. Once you are far away from the Carno, the server will stop making creatures attack each other. Use Dododex’s taming timer and wait until it’s done. Go back to it and voila! You have successfully tamed a Carno. (Unless you are like me and a Spino suddenly spawned and killed my Carno the first time)

WARNINGS

Do not use bolas on him, it does not work. Get him to a safe area before attempting to tame him because he is not the strongest nor smartest creature in ARK. Only use bows, crossbows, and other high torpor low damage weapons like longneck with tranq darts. Don’t think taming a Carno makes you the boss of ARK, raptors can still jump you from the shadows and pounce you off.

FEATURES

The Carno is a great harvester of meats and is a good early ~ mid-game tame to have. It is a great fighter, protecting you in many scenarios if you live in the southern part of the island, you will be completely safe (mostly).

I don’t like building traps. So I just get on a rock. And shoot the thing

A simple way to get these guys is to simply distract them with something delicious. Command something tanky (Ex. Carbonemys) to attack them, then set them to passive so they don’t kill the Carno. Then, you can pelt it with a slingshot or bow and tranq arrow until it goes down. They don’t have the biggest torpor stat, so raising it to max won’t take many tranq arrows (5 if it is extremely low level)

Use a raptor as a mount and you can easily outrun a Carno while shooting it with tranq arrows/darts. It's how I've tamed all my carnos.

Here’s how I easily tamed one:

Step 1: locate a Carno

Step 2: use an already tamed flying dino such as the pteranodon and lead it towards a cliff

Step 3: If it’s on the top part of the cliff then make it jump and fall into the lower part

Step 3: land on the top part of the cliff and shoot the Carno with tranq arrows (the cliff needs to be steep so that it doesn’t ham you)

Step 4: give it meat and surround it with wooden spikes if there are dangerous dinos nearby

You just need a couple trank arrows, at least about nine, maybe some hide armor, and then climb up onto a rock that he can’t get up onto, then shoot him or something to Agro him, and once he comes to the base of the rock and attempts to kill you, shoot him with the tranks. Then when he tries to run away, just jump down and chase him. But make sure he doesn’t get KOed in water.

Easy tame for anyone with a crossbow and narcs, plus easy breed and makes you feel like a pro

I recommend, if u don’t have a spyglass, to get enough arrows for a 150. Just in case the Carno you have your eye on happens to be that. I tamed a lvl 60 but outrunning it with my raptor and shooting it with arrows. Its not easy, but it gets the job done without having to build traps and stuff like that. You can just bear trap it and knock it that way.

If you want the Lazy, Easy way of taming one of these, Get it to Agro onto a Diplo then use a Slingshot or Tranq Arrows/Bullets and You got yourself a easy carno tame.

Just go on a nearby cliff bruh ._.

I knocked it out with a club, just because. I do not recommend. But now I have a carno named Apex.

I used an Iguanadon to outrun it whilst shooting it with tranq arrows.

There are 2 ways you can tame a carno,one can be used for people who has alot of points invested into movement speed,or you can build a trap which is much safer than the first taming method.

1-The first way is more dangerous but costs less and needs less peperation,but the second needs more preparation but is safer than the first),for people with alot of points into movement speed(like I said)how this method works is,first your movement speed needs to be atleast 130-150 or more,as they are a bit slower than a raptor,so,you first attract it's attention by using tranq darts or tranq arrows(for super low levels sling shots MAYBE can be used)but the wooden club is out of the question.

You atract it's attention,then start pelting it with your house or tranq ammo,then when it gets close to you run away from it,when it's atleast 5 meters away from you(about 3-6 foundations),start shooting it with tranq ammo,repeat this process and check it's torpor(it's process of getting knocked out/the purple thing that you view below it's hp with a spyglass),with a spyglass,when it's torpr reaches about 90% it will start to run and flee,then Persue it until it's knocked out.(SN:this method also works with a fast ground mount with some points into movement speed or a fast flying mount,example:raptor for ground mound and pteresaur/pterenadon)

2-build a 2x1 or 2x2 box with the walls being 1 wall high,atract it's attention,lure it into the trap(use a ground mount if it makes you feel safer,like raptor)once it's in the trap,pelt it with the tranq ammo of your choice.

2-whichever method you prefer,once it's knocked out,use narcotics or biotoxin(I prefer biotoxin imo)to keep it asleep,use either raw meat or prime meat for taming,and it ark mobile,use soothing balm with it,this is necessary if you want to tame a high level carno in ark mobile,this works in arks pc version,but thet no soothing balm there,idk what kibble in ark pc carno eats,but feed it,keep it asleep,and protect it with wooden spike walls if you want extra protection.

3-boom,you've got yourself a new and fresh carno,these guy's saddles unlock at level 46,and are monsters,slightly slower than a raptor but, better,more damage,more weight,and more health,if you want a good and powerful Dino in the early game,these guys are it,if have a high level carno,level 300+ preferebly,you can kill low level trexes eazily,but be careful,I think raptors can pull you off your carno with their pounce ability.
