What are tips for carcharodontosaurus? Tips and strategies for carcharodontosaurus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
They’re adding this! Finally! A new creature that actually lived once!
P.S. I’m a dino nerd🤓☺️

These can break stone beware of the carcha they will find you and they will eat you
⚠️These *DO* SPAWN ALONGSIDE GIGAS!⚠️
The person who said they don’t just hasn’t encountered it yet, but many times I’ve had to lure wild Gigas away from a Carcharo to tame it. The spawn areas for these roll for a Giga or Carcharo separately, making it completely possible for both to spawn at once.
Easy Carchar taming method that I like using:
Use your throwaway tames, or tame diplos.
Level points ONLY into health. The more points into health, the more quicker you can tame the Carchar.
Next, find a Carchar, DO. NOT. TRAP. IT. It will not eat the corpses you bring if it is in a trap. It will also bug out, better to do it without one.
Now you have 2 options, use a throwaway tame or use any Dino in the area to feed the Carchar.
The best way I found, is to use an unclaimed tame that has a lot of points into health - preferably 100k.
Next, drag whatever corpse you chose to the Carchar, and WAIT for the sniffing animation. It doesn’t matter if you also walk up to it after it finished sniffing the air, it will solely focus on the corpse, make sure you run away asap though.
The more the corpse has health, the faster the Carchar will let you ride it. Please remember that.
After dragging the corpses and the Carchar is letting you ride it, you can either go around on a murder spree OR use your throwaway tames.
I used my throwaway rexes that had 100k health in them - here’s the fun part.
Instead of focusing on your Carchar munching away at the rex for 5 hours, you can whistle passive (before bringing taming the Carchar, recommend doing it before you start bringing the corpses) unclaim, then damage your tame till it is VERY bloody.
Once you did that, bring over your Carchar and make sure you are RIDING IT; manually attack your unclaimed tame, and boom. Taming efficiency goes up a bunch.
Highly recommend diplos or rexes with over 100k health as it will tame so much faster, don’t forget to damage them enough so it only takes a few bites for your Carchar!
TDLR: more health on dinos = faster Carchar taming.
Hope this helps!
No need to make a trap, all you need is one baby Rex and it will instantly let you ride it
Bro I tried to trap it with stone not grate idea then broke out killed me then I tried to it back… Boom it’s faster then my gallemimes then it guided it till it despond moral of the story USE METAL
When I want to tame a carcha, I always use a baby rex because it always gives 100% trust, but i mostly find carchas in the cold biome on The Island, so its hard to incubate and hatch the eggs in the temperature of the biome, so I usually incubate it at home and get it at least 50% incubated, then use keys(usually 5)to hatch it, killing it and dragging it to the carcha.
A quick but easy way to tame this Beast and have fun in pvp servers is to gain it's trust and then raid a nearby tribe, kill all of them and their dinos then it should be tamed.
Once you find one kill anything and drag the dead body over to it(do not drop it or when it eats the dead body it will not up taming) once fed enough you can start the riding mini-game where you need to ride it and kill everything you can find until tamed
If you drag food and it walks away DONT CHAS E IT!! It will come back..
Sacrificing 3 Diplos with around 78k health each will give a perfect tame. Did this yesterday on a single player world and managed to get a 150 male Carcha (tamed 225), only issue is you've got to surround the carcha in metal gates and place a behemoth gate and door in between the Carcha and Diplo in order to prevent the Carcha from eating the Diplo without you mounting it
To Perfect Tame a Carcha you must need to gain its trust meter using babies of these
Diplo
Yuty
Rexes
Now for the Rampage it was TESTED The Higher the Health in Levels the Better Effectiveness use DIPLODOCUS for 0 dmg and high hp for best taming
On Ragnarok I usually find them by the wyvern trench plains.(Remember look every where!)(Watch out for the Gigas)
Use a baby rex for 100% trust if you dont have any just find trikes
Just don't let it get hit for taming effectiveness mostly, idk how many I've tamed thinking that it wouldn't effect the efficiency.. just tamed a 130 at 98% efficiency with sanguine elixer and not letting it get hit. X.x
No trap necessary! I’ve tamed 6 now and no trap is easier than dealing with the trap. Mate high level rexes, hatch eggs, and cryopod the babies. Find Carchar, kill ALL dinos in the immediate area. At a safe distance but in sight of carchar get high level baby rex(s) out of cryopod, kill them, drag to carchar and let them sniff and eat. Number of baby rex needed is dependent upon carchar level and your server taming rates. I recommend only killing one rex at a time otherwise carchar may end up going over to your pile and eating them and that will do you no good, trust me. If on extinction I recommend luring the carchar back into the snow biome if it has ended up out in the wasteland. The random spawning of corrupted can really add another level of difficulty to this tame.
In theory, you could use a mind wipe tonic, pump most your stats into weight and kill some adult rexes at the sight to use for feeding. I haven’t tried that though so experiment at your own risk.
On Extinction they spawn regularly on the outer edge of the snow biome from the southeast to southwest corner of the biome. I’ve found them on both sides, just inside or just outside of the biome.
They take forever to raise and imprint but they are well worth it if you can get some high level breeders. They are a giga on steroids with a better turning radius, a stamina boost, and a blood rage buff that drastically increases melee and heals them faster than they can take damage. I raised 6 that started around level 150 and got them mostly imprinted. Just riding one I am unstoppable, I can handle a purple supply drop up to wave 5 and not even be close to losing the carchar or dying myself. Unfortunately I lose the drop because there are more Dino’s spawning than one person and mount can handle.
Like all big Dino’s they don’t handle fall damage well so be careful there.
If you're on the killing spree part of the tame, stay away from deep water at ALL costs!!! I just lost a perfect 150 Carcha in the snow biome (The Island) at around 70% taming because a yuty's attack knocked the carcha off a cliff and into the ocean (messed up physics, I know) and no matter how hard I tried to salvage it it still ended up drowning. Additionally, for all on ARK UME single-player, one yuty baby is enough for 100% trust (which is what I used). However, I noticed that sometimes the carcha will eat the corpse and not gain any trust, but going out of render distance before feeding it the second yuty seemed to work. Good luck everyone!!!
Unlike gigas you can easily kill a wild one in this process:
1. Find a carcharo that you dont want existing (e.g. its a low level, you want its exp or you need a giga heart) then get the carcharo to trust you
2. Mount the carcharo and ride it off cliffs until it dies or until it reaches low enough health that you can finish it off quickly with a tame since they wont fight back and cant even damage tamed creatures
3. After it dies you will even sometimes get a free giga heart since its a wild dino or if it died from fall damage you and the corpse will have the same momentum so beware of fall damage
