You can easily beat one without ranged weps just using a good melee weapon and a shield. Hit it three times, immediately block with the shield, hit three times, block, repeat. Will not work on multiple carbs, but for any newcome bold enough to try it on a high lvl one goodluck

Firstly make an crosbow or an bow

Then make some tranq arrows them from some distance shoot arrows at carbonemys

Also find a low level carbonemys for easily tame

Then put berries and narco berries or narcotic for unconscious

Then it will tame

You shoot with arrows until at 200 health then hit with slingshot feed mojo beries then wait

This is one of the easier tames you can still die to it though. All you really need is a slig shot and walk backwards because their slow if it starts running away your almost their. Remember to have plenty of berries

If you kill 1 on these you will get keratin

The easiest way to tame these guys : step one - jump on its back step two - hit it with a club step three - feed it many Berry's step four - you have tamed a Carbonemys

Focus only on hp when looking to tame. Anything 30+ points pre tame in hp will be ideal.

Only focus on hp mutations during breeding (you will ideally need to breed/clone 100 females)

Breed until you can lvl up an imprinted carb with enough mutations in hp to get it to over 100k

Carbonemys is a very good bodyguard. If chased by a carnivore, run past or hide near this guy. The carbonemys will fight and possibly kill the distracted carnivores.

For noobs who think life should not involve dying. It should. It makes things interesting. These guys are sort of in the middle of hard and easy game. I’ve never tried killing one on my own, frankly, but my pet raptors [all dead. :(] killed them easily, even when I was riding. Oh, wait. I did successfully kill one without my tames. I’ve never tamed one. I’m just learning that you can tame raptors, sarcos, and, of course, these guys. My point is, be prepared when trying to kill them. And just don’t. They’re cute.

My main piece of advice for anybody going after one of these is to make certain you hit them in the head. Bolas are useless on these guys but you wouldn’t really need them anyways because of how slow they are. Essentially all you need to do is walk backwards and shoot arrows at its head. If this style of taming doesn’t fancy you though, you could always make a trap and lure the Carbonemys in that way. Once it’s down, just feed it your choice of berries or kibble and boom! (1/148)

Guys these things are AMAZING starter tames. All you need is a club and some mejo berries, (purple) and you should be able to tame a low level. And they do well against compies, dilos, and with enough of them, rexes and spinos!

Taming these and leaving them in a piranha invested area will rapidly reduce the piranha population 2 should be enough

Always remember to hot the turtle with a arrow then count to five then hit it agein

I attacked one before I was at 1 hp I ran and got my dodo and backed up my turtle went in front of them stoping them I named him hero

Ran into a lvl 145 in the water fighting a Megalodon and killed it. The Megalodon was lvl 123. Point is if your a low level and see a high level Carbonemys either don't kill it or use it as a shelter (Ride its shell)

Aim for the soft neck with tranquilizer darts instead of the shell

They make for decent berry farmers. They have collection rates almost as good as a trike, they don't have the big area of effect

Only pump melee and health when you get levels if you pump only health it may tank everything but it can't do anything else and if you pump damage and health you can kill everything I've even kill a level 65 alpha raptor with my level 112 turtle.
