Tips & Strategies

What are tips for basilosaurus? Tips and strategies for basilosaurus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
You can not feed basilos while riding a ichty (dolphin). You have to dismount (at least on Xbox and PS4) and if you dismount and feed the basilo the mantas will try to kill you.
When taming the time between the first and second feed takes forever. To avoid this move well out of render and back again and it will be ready to feed 👍 Also upon your return be sure to kill everything in the area before continuing. Essentially an under water rex. great all round beast.
Once you're able to passively feed the basil, I repeat DON'T LEAVE IT ALONE!
The first feeding is at least a 5 min wait, but once you get to the other feedings you'll have to constantly feed it every 8 seconds or else you’ll lose taming progress.
I find them all around herbivore island on mobile for those who have asked 👍 If you want high levels tho, I can only seem to find high levels around dead island and the snow biome 🤷♂️
Try not to die when feeding it
I’m planning to tame this guy so I cannot to be scared of them
it helps people get out of fear of jellyfish
Just One of the OBRIGATORY TAMES FOR ANY TRIBE! It can be used for different objectives, Like farming oil(Yes, he have the ability to produce natural oil!) And farming biotoxine, once it isnt affected by the stun effect of the jellyfishes. It’s a greater defence than a Megalodon, due to it’s HUGE hp and moderated damage. Also, it protects you from high and low temperatures, then you can explore the ocean at night too! Simply One of the BEST tames for solo! 0% Hype, 1000% useful!
This guy does not like to swim alone so he stays with his manta friends be careful
DodexX's Guide at taming things
Basilosaurus
Pros:
- Passive oil mine
- Immune to electric shocks (electrophorus/eel, jellyfish)
- Immune to tuso/squid hug
Cons:
- Long taming process due to the first feed in which you have to wait for its hunger bar to drop 10% to feed again
- Loses health in deep waters
- Slow turning
How to tame:
Get a good water tame (prefferably sarcosuchus or baryonyx) and get the manta's attention WITHOUT HITTING THE BASILOSAURUS, afterwards, kill all the mantas and then begin feeding the Basilosaurus, it is important to note that the time between first and second feed is long (abt 6 minutes), try to stay near your basilosaurus and kill any mantas/megs that come near it. That's it from me, bye.
The feeding intervals are more like 10 minutes
Pro Tip: Basi’s won’t spawn with a whole gang of mantas on Gen 1 map, making it much easier to tame. You also have increased oxygen and swim speed in Gen 1’s Ocean Biome so you won’t need scuba gear and you can outswim Megalodons easily.
This is a beast my lvl 17 basil took out 3 lvl 57 megs
