Trust me noobs once you get a mid-high lvl Basilosaurus you’ll never be scared of the ocean again.

I killed a mid lvl mosasaur with my lvl 220 Basilo and only took 200 damage out of my 16K health.

Tame a basilo at around level 100, you are now pretty much king of the ocean, that thing can take on alpha megalodons, outdistance a mosa and kill pretty much everything else except tusos.

This guy does not like to swim alone so he stays with his manta friends be careful

Basilosaurus

Pros:

- Passive oil mine

- Immune to electric shocks (electrophorus/eel, jellyfish)

- Immune to tuso/squid hug

Cons:

- Long taming process due to the first feed in which you have to wait for its hunger bar to drop 10% to feed again

- Loses health in deep waters

- Slow turning

How to tame:

Get a good water tame (prefferably sarcosuchus or baryonyx) and get the manta's attention WITHOUT HITTING THE BASILOSAURUS, afterwards, kill all the mantas and then begin feeding the Basilosaurus, it is important to note that the time between first and second feed is long (abt 6 minutes), try to stay near your basilosaurus and kill any mantas/megs that come near it. That's it from me, bye.

The feeding intervals are more like 10 minutes

Today I used my level 282 basilo to kill an alpha Tuso. For those of you who have never encountered a regular Tuso, they spray ink, blinding you. Alphas are also 3 times faster. Basilos are very slow. I think you see the problem here

Pro Tip: Basi’s won’t spawn with a whole gang of mantas on Gen 1 map, making it much easier to tame. You also have increased oxygen and swim speed in Gen 1’s Ocean Biome so you won’t need scuba gear and you can outswim Megalodons easily.

This is a beast my lvl 17 basil took out 3 lvl 57 megs

Pro Tip (Herbivore Island): If you don’t have an Argentavis, you can use one of these guys to transport items to the main land, they have about 700 carry capacity at only level 10!

why does itches and mantas like basilos ?

I tamed a lvl 150 and it actually killed two alpha mosa at once granted we barely survived but still impressive and a must have in the ocean.

Taming this guys are easy, all you need in an Ichthyosaurs 2 stacks of Raw Meat and a Will to go to ocean bottom. Set your Ichthyosaurs in passive , swim to one and make sure you are on the left side of the basilo so that when you jump off the basilo is in feeding range.

Feed it and jump back on the Ichthyo lure the mantas and the baddies away from basilo. After the drop agro go back and feed again. Always remember to get off the Ichthyosaur right beside the basilo so you can feed it and jump back on it and run to safety. Be cautious of your surroundings especially Tuso and don't forget to keep eye on oxygen all the time underwater

They are immune to Cnidaria

Just get some prime meat and kill the mantas first. You can usually find them in shallow water making the tame even safer.

Don't be scared when encountering and taming it, its pretty chill and will be easy to tame if u kill every manta or shark around it.
