Cheesy tip: mount a scorpion or Arthepluora or even another Araneo, walk up to the one u wanna tame while sitting on your tamed insect and feed it. For some reason none of the Dino in game agro on insect type dinos what so ever ;)

Best way to tame an Araneo is to use bug repellent.

So, biggest thing no one tells you on here. If you only have repellant and no ghille, put it on and go at them from the SIDE!! Not head on, not directly behind. The side. Never aggros on you that way. From the back and front even with repellant it aggroed 3x each before i tried it this way.

On ASA as of right before the TLC it prefers superior or better kibble, not simple kibble.

They should be able to climb like a megalania or rock drake, at least in mobile, because megalanias and rock drakes aren't in mobile.

After the TLC - DO NOT try and use SIMPLE kibble. It will ruin the tame!

SIMPLE kibble WILL RUIN your tame!!!

Each simple kibble will increase tame by .1% and lose you 10 levels of tame.

While it says Simple on here and the Spyglass, use SUPERIOR kibble!

The dossier says it bolas dinosaurs with its webs, spits venom, and has a venomous bite. It needs higher torpor damage a high torpor spit attack and it needs to Bola creatures that can be trapped by chain bolas. It also needs megalania/deinonychus stile climbing so it can move fluidly but also drop down and hang. Petition to makes this the true nightmare spider its supposed to be. A terror to fliers, caving, and players alike. The hybrid spider that defies nature shall be what it was intended.

Araneo needs spider web grappling hook ability. Reeling up and down consumes Araneo stamina. TLC 3 please Wildcard.

In Asa, the Araneo needs superior kibble and is a knock out tame!

DO NOT GO NEXT TO MEGATHERIUMS WHILE RIDING THESE SPIDERS!!! I learned my lesson when I was riding my lvl 130 Araneo and a big sloth attacked me and killed me in 3 seconds doing 300-500 dmg. Don't be me

Don’t underestimate these things. A dilo and an araneo set on turret mode completely blinds any would be attacker. Pair that with a raptor for the pin, and an onyc for megarabies and the armor wreck, that player won’t know what hit them.

NOT A PASSIVE TAME ANYMORE I learned this the hard way after trying for almost an hour. Also all you have to do to knock one out is shoot it once or twice with tranq darts. Super easy, definitely worth it.

Hi I’m MastaCheeks420… here is my story

One day I ventured into one of the caves that you can find on the missions (ark Mobile) and it was a VERY GOOD place for metal and rocks etc. Only downside was the titanaboa and the spider along with the scorpions (plz don’t judge I can’t remember names) but at the time I didn’t know about them. There was this cliff that I didn’t see and I fell down into it. NOTE: I’m about level 40+ and unlocked the primitive longneck rifle, primitive double barrel shotgun, and primitive crossbow (no attachments). Lucky I had 50 rifle shells and 46 shotgun-shells, with a handful of arrows in the crispy crossbow 🤘. So here is the layout of the cave… and yes I know it’s a freaking essay OK JUST DEAL WITH IT! But anyways the layout is first the cliff… no way up it’s too steap to climb and I had no resources on me other than food and water. So along with the wall on your back you have a front section of a “Y” or aka a fork. So I decide while I’m in there to find the artifact that was in there. I found it and I had just wasted 26 rifle rounds taking out 1000 hp+ scorpions so after the artifact I went to the right side of the “Y” and there is where it all started MY FIRST INCOUNTER WITH THE TITANA BOA!!! (Along with the spiders) No joke I thought the guys were tuff as nails but in all reality they are just a huge target. (Doom music kicks in) With the shotgun I started baiting them around a corner to their demise. I would have to run a few trying to reload the double barrel. But they were just easy targets. The tough ones were the spiders and scorpions. I didn’t want to deal with them so what I did was just full on sprint through the whole thing (stamina is at 240 while speed in near 250 so I’m a speedy boy) but I run, swim and parkour over all the critters and when I get to a choke point I am able to gather some wood and fiber to make 1 spike wall!!! And while the spike is building I have a horde of titana boas and arachnids in a big ol’ wave. Like no joke on each other trying to get a piece of me. So I’m blasting away and as soon as I ran out of shotgun bullets the spike wall was finished! I placed it down at the choke point and all of them died! I was able to rack up 4 LEVELS!!! I made my way out like nothing happened with half health and literally dieing of hunger… I had taken about 400 arrows in all from harvesting the titana boas and 804 chitin from spiders+scorpions!! And on my way out feeling like a champ… and then a level 40 Alfa raptor comes and stomps the crap out of me 🥲

Moral of the story… don’t smoke crack!

They can either spawn alone or have a 66% chance to spawn as 2 and a 33% chance for a pack of 3. Note this when you are trying to find araneos to tame.

For some reason if you are up against a wall their web attacks wont be able to hit you.

When tamed they can slow down any thing they are awesome even though I hate spiders and I’d love if they could climb

Even for ASE, the Araneo is an incredibly underrated tame. As for taming, you can tame a max level with rotten flesh, extremely easy and fun. Once tamed, it can slow down enemies with its web attacks and is generally a good defense for you base. Not to mention its extremely cool.
