She stared again, confused.

"That certainly sounded like a threat."

She pointed out, slightly impatient.

"I already told you, lady. It wasn't."

He said with a sigh, nudging his mount into a trot, then without looking back at her, spurred his raptor into a run, hopping off a ledge, and into the black water of a river below, she watched, and waited for him to surface, but after a minute of staring, then, hunger licking at her insides like hotflame, she pushed herself to look away, and go search for food once again.

As time went on, she made slight progress, finding out how to make a pick of stone, fire from rocks and foliage, and notes from a paperish thing she made from hide and fiber, using plant oils, and a sharp piece of flint to scratch words on it, then coating it in oil, and heating it over a fire, until the words blackened, and could be seen with ease. She intended to test it later with whatever she might happen to learn.

With a quite sigh, she continued to collect berries, she had seen more people, they had chased her, never friendly, always trying to catch her, to steal from her, to take the life that was rightfully hers. She wouldn't let them, she hid in trees whenever she could, avoiding all of the creatures, she didn't care how cute they were or harmless, she learned the hard way, that looks can be deceiving. She thought all this as she continued her little Trek across the hill top, watching her flank carefully, checking left, then righ-. A loud snap sounded, and she let out a loud Yelp of pain. A toothed had creature seized her feet, and clamped down, holding her with a death grip, as she tried to fight back, but was helpless, helpless-
