As of October 2026, Cryos now spawn on the Island, the Center, Ragnarok, Valguero, Extinction, Genesis: Part 1, and Lost Colony. When Genesis: Part 2, Crystal Isles, Lost Island, and Fjordur come out for ASA, it should spawn in the snow biome of those maps and in Rockwell’s Garden in Genesis: Part 2.

Just tamed a 145 with two primitive wooden shields and some materials for repairs. Reflect the torpor spit back at him and duck behind a rock (or thatch wall on a wooden fence foundation) for the ice breath. Use the opportunity wile ducking to swap and repair your shields. I’m seeing tips saying to use Dino gates but you really don’t need to make it so expensive, just use 2 foundation and put two doorways in the front, and two on the side just to be safe, don’t do the back unless your worried dire wolf or deadon will come kill you, then just stand in between the two front doors and the cryo should do a ice breath, mine did two, so just pop out the doorway for a second and go back in it should do the second, then leave just outside the doorway and deflect, rinse and repeat. Also gives in between a for repairs.

Fun fact since I haven't seen this mentioned yet.

Their inventory has the same effect as Ice Wyverns from Ragnarok, which slows spoil timers considerably.

If you want the experience you can tame it with a shield but it’s a major pain. Easy tame, I just tamed a 150 female, picked it up with my quetz flew it back to main base dropped it in a trap then stood far enough away so it couldn’t hit me with its breath and just shot it with shocking tranq darts til it knocked out, dropped some exceptional kibble in the inventory and now I have a tamed 224 pet! No narcotics needed

Find the crylo. Place a foundation and a wall down before you aggro. Stand behind the wall for the freezing breath. Step out with your shield to reflect the ice balls. I’ve breath starts, step back behind the wall. One ascendant metal shield is all it took.
