When I first encountered this creature I grappled to my pteranodon over the surface of the water. Immediately got dragged down and brutally killed. Do yourself a favor and tame a tanky creature that you can wield while riding or make a trap first.

Well that can catch you so first build the cage and make it like get holes but small that you cannot escape then you need a crossbow because if you get too close you’re cooked so you need a crossbow hit the head and boom you got you’re very X fish

Will pull you off your raft so be careful

Definitely in vest in a aquatic tame, to tank the damage these things produce.. My 1st experience almost killed our tribes highest leveled Megaldon, and the Xiphactinus was only Level: 140. With that being said, beware of these deadly foes.

P.S. Also try and use Harpoon Tranqs. The Xiphactinus has low health, so if you bring any tranq arrows, you'll most likely kill it before you get the chance to tame it.

Basically if you found this type of fish, just hop on your raft and leave fast or just lure it to a mosasaurus

If you use a tanky water creature, you can place it next to a vacuum chamber and shoot shocking darts from inside

Bring a carcha they wipe the floor with these little stains of existence

If you guys are struggling to kill these guys use a Berry I encountered one and I did the spin attack and it works

You can tame them with cooked meat jerky.

I tamed from back of a sarco. Let it circle me and pezzled it with xbow as it passed. It won't pick you off sarco.

My ichthyosaurus got grabbed by it and I just had to tranq it down. Very easy tame and INCREDIBLE mount

I don't what these people are talking about I use my Bary and murder mobs like nothing lol I usually farm these guys for fish meat 300 per fish on 1x

If you are going to hope to tame this sea demon, at least make it worth your trouble and tame a 140 or higher. Use three stone gateways and a metal bill board. You’ll understand why we need a bill board later. Get on an Ichthiosaurus and if you don’t have swim goggles yet (like me😔), swim blindly until you see something fast chasing you and/or you hear a low growl. After that, don’t swim too fast or else you will lose them, but swim into your trap and leave your Ichthiosaurus behind. Say your goodbyes and get out the trap from underneath the billboard. Enclose them all in reinforced gates. Kill the ones you don’t want, and start to tranq the Xiphactinus slowly, or it will die before any torpidity kicks in. Don’t expect much because if you use arrows to tranq, it dies about 60% of the time. If you’re lucky and manage to tuck it in bed and say “Good night”, then use exceptional kibble; it’s way easier to make than the purple kibble because you don’t need prime meat jerky. After that, keep up the trap to tame another; I highly recommend taming another because the pack buff with this is insane and you can bring alpha MOSASAURS to shame.
