Tips & Strategies

What are tips for tusoteuthis? Tips and strategies for tusoteuthis in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
The Tuso is often something to fear by many new players and for most other players who have never tamed a Tuso or even have ever encountered one before. If you are looking to tame one, use black pearls to feed them (prime meat can also work though it will take longer to tame). If you see one, it will usually have a description saying “does not want to be tamed right now “. This means you will need any other smaller tame you have. The use of the already owned creature will be used as a sacrifice (bait). Make sure the Tuso aggro’s and attempts to grab the tame and not you! As soon as the Tuso gets a hold of the tamed creature by grabbing it, it will deal lots of damage to it. But in the process of the Tuso grabbing the tame, it’s time for the taming process of the Tuso to begin. Come up to the side of its head where there is no hit box and feed it black pearls which have to be located in your hot bar.(This is a passive tame so the use of trinks will not work). Feed the Tuso when it feels hungry again. Note: you may need multiple tamed creatures set on passive for this because the will kill even some of your stronger creatures. After you keep doing this procedure you have a Giant, Colossal body guard that can kill anything in the seas. Good luck adventure.
When taming tusos, use a creature with good health, torpor, and no oxygen stat as the grab target. Quite a few creatures fulfill this criteria, but my recommendations would be:
*Turtle (small turtle, not megachelon)
*Dunkle
*Mosa/Plesi
*Megalodon
As for your mount, ride a basilo so the tuso won’t grab your mount instead.
Just need a decent plesi with good saddle. Make sure to line up at the same depth of the squid. Plesi on passive and low follow. Jump off the please and stay to the left above it. Wait for the grab. Make sure it is a good grab no glitch. Swim in and feed. Swim up call follow and set 14 min timer. Repeat until tamed.
So, all of y’all are saying that Tusoteuthis’s are really rare and can only be found on brutal. But me and my friend found one chilling near herbivore island*. Were we lucky? Or is it something about ASA or the island map?
* Tusoteuthis was either level 24 or 6 don’t remember exactly.
Basilo can not be grappled by this. So it makes fighting them easier on a basilo, farm those black pearls.
In my experience, I mostly encounter them deep sea in around Lat 95, Long 30 in The Island(ark mobile).
To tame one , just lure it to some wild plessy/mosa/carbonermys(turtle) and let it grab one of them. Then just swim at side(safe) or direct in mouth(kinda unsafe). Feed it 50 black pearls and bam! U have Giant squid.
Just use balm lol they are easy to get from caves, dont be lazy.
Take a super health boosted carbonemis put him follow on lowest take him to this gaint hugger boi and let him give the turtle lots of hugs. Meanwhile feed it some black pearls, he will start to love u.
screw all the water tames up until this one. f the progression of itchy, meg, etc. tame a turtle, get one, fearlessly explore anywhere in the ocean. they are so easy to get and such a solid tame. i refused to venture to the ocean because i always died to jellyfish (apparrently apex predators in ark) but now i laugh at the silly jellies with the might of my squid! up so new players can see and start their own ocean exploring
if you’re on crystal isles and see one on the shore you can tame it, hit it with a dino that could be carried you can use a land animals because you won’t need to go out far, okay so it should take maybe a couple hits for it to aggro hit it once if it doesn’t aggro take a 30 second brake and keep doing this repeatedly till it finally aggros on your dino feed it black pearls and it’s yours (ur welcome)
It says "Taming (non-violent) not because its a lie and this thing is really mean but because its a passive tame since you don't need to knock it out
Don’t tame these anywhere near the world border. I got dropped out of bounds and my stuff deleted.
Whoever said feedings after the first one take less interval was full of BS. 13 minutes, each time.
While taming note that you should enable first person on your character not your dino because if you accidentally swim upwards it will shift all attention toward you in third person it happened to me two or three times so to new players this is a tipe from me and also it does a crap ton of damage so if you bring a mosa say with a primitive saddle it should have 20k+ hp or just set dino damage to 0.1
All you have to do to tame one of these is search the deep ocean find a open space and go on a killing spree until you find one. After you find one you just let it grab your mount (Many suggest turtles) then go to its mouth and feed it meat or black pearls (more than 50).
While taming it, always go for the mouth in order to feed it. Learned that the hard way. 🦂
Let it attack your animal then feed it black pearls while it still has your animal if u do it quick your animal won’t die (have to have 50 pearls )
