Journey: Chapter 11

After Forest calmed down Nightfall and plucked off all the leeches on him. They continued through the swamp and got through without any more problems. Expect that Nightfall kept stepping in water that was too deep for him and would go under.

They finally made it out and could see where the rock formations that hid the platform away from view and the two began to run towards it. Forest was excited that he was finally getting to go home, he couldn’t wait to see his friends and family again. He wasn’t sure if he would be able to make the celebration in the redwoods. But he would be glad to be back in Fjordur.

“It’s just over the top of this hill!!!” Nightfall said vigorously, “Slow down, we got enough time to get there. I just want to know what that was that flew over us back there?” Forest said trying to show interest in Nightfall’s world.

Truth was he could barely control himself from running past Nightfall and just getting to the obelisk to get out of here. But he wanted to be kind and polite for the last little trek of their journey, so he held back his urge and wanted to know what flew over them in the swamp.

“Oh that, it was just a Rhynio.” Nightfall said wheezing as he sat down for a moment. “What a Rhynio?” Forest replied, “You’ve never seen a Rhynio, nightmare creatures, rumors of them scattered throughout the order’s network once we spotted them here and The Lost Island. Female’s have been known to use other creatures as a food source and host for their young.” Nightfall said as he started to shaking again.

“You know, you do that a lot, are you okay?” Forest asked, “I’m fine, it only started happening since the night I met you. You my friend, are a Thyla and a Microraptor rolled into one. Just a full on hazard since I met you. I’ll be glad when you’re gone!!” Nightfall said viciously.

“Geez, sorry. I was only asking. I thought it might have been because of your wounds. I didn’t mean to hit a nerve.” Forest muttered back.

“Sorry, it’s a genetic thing with me being so small. I get very upset when others bring it up.” Nightfall said, “Okay, I am sorry about that.” Forest said “It’s alright, you didn’t know… I’m sorry, for snapping there. Let’s just continue moving on.”
