Tips & Strategies

What are tips for tusoteuthis? Tips and strategies for tusoteuthis in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
When attacking, use Basilosaurus whales, they cannot be grabbed, be aware that once low health, the squid will flee and emit ink, and debuff you by making all nearby creatures aggro you. I almost lost a 265 basilosaurus to 4 dunkleos and 10 megalos that boxes me into a star formation.
Get a basilosaurus
CAUZE THEY ARE IMMUNE
TO HIS ATTACKS
So many outdated tips.
- clear nearby enemies
- have the tuso grab a high health tame.
- be mounted on a second creature that can attack or use hotbar.
- feed it black pearls while mounted.
Mosasaur is the Giga of the sea you say? Well this here scurvy kraken is the titanosaur of the sea! Get in yonder boat and flee! Or you'll end up like me!
For the stuck squid on the crystal isles beaches; it is tameable. Eat a Rare Flower to aggro it and you can passive tame it normally!
Listen clostly, dont lure them to the surrface or they wont want to be tamed. Second, it takes one 50 black pearl feeding. Third, they have to be holding onto something. DO NOT BRING PLATFORM SADDLES NEAR THE SQUID IT WILL GLITCH OUT.
When it grabs you and puts you under the map, DO NOT PANIC AND DISMOUNT! Your corpse will fall to the void and become unretrievable. Just wait it out and eventually you’ll be put back up.
Mount a basilosaurus, grab yourself a turtle, have the turtle follow you on lowest setting, while you're on the basilosaurus. Move very close to the tuso it will grab the turtle ignoring the basilosaurus completely. Wait for the tuso to hold on to the turtle and then dismount your basilosaurus and quickly swim up to the tuso's face up close and feed the tusa black pearls. Very easy tame! Enjoy your sea creature!
Tuso on mobile are very rare. The only way to find them consistently is by playing brutal as difficulty and level contribute to spawns. If playing anything other than brutal, you should use tidy saves in single player. Tidy saves kill all Dinos outside of your tamed ones and those in your general area.
Because the Mosa cannot be grabbed on mobile, I recommend to just tame them instead as it is easier to get a ascendant saddle for them (Snow cave drop) and because they are much more common on medium/hard. They might take longer to tame but generally they are better.
If you cannot find a tuso, it is not because you aren’t looking hard enough, in fact, the ocean giants load in far before anything else. It is because the tuso refuses to spawn due to it being low on the spawn priority list.
P.S When you make a single player world for the first time, there is a set amount of tusos on the initial world gen.
Easy: Chance of 1 tuso spawning, guaranteed after surpassing level 80.
Medium: 2 spawn initially and a increased chance after surpassing level 85
Hard: 3 spawn initially and a chance of up to 2 more after surpassing 85
Brutal: 4 spawn initially and level doesn’t matter.
Don’t let it grab your tame when near the ocean floor. It’s mechanic while holding your tame makes it tilt in such a way that you are moved underground. Then the game rerenders you and your tame above the water. Lost a lvl 218 mosa instantly. Try and get the squid to go a little higher before trying to tame.
Honestly the best place to find a Tuso is the western part of Ragnarok, at roughly 50,10. There is a medium sized trench that houses at least a dozen. Here's an easy way to tame.
1) Grab something to breathe underwater. (Scuba or a tek helmet)
2) Grab a beefed up tame with good hp. (I use a Shadowmane because they breathe underwater and have insane natural armor)
3) Let the Tuso Grab your tame and while it's latched, swim up and feed it one stack of 50 black pearls. It has to be 50. Any type of meat will take you 3 hours compared to a couple minutes.
4) Rinse and repeat. Be prepared to die, taming a Tuso for the first time isn't super easy but remember not to panic. Clear the area out around the Tuso you want to tame first and then try.
Don’t believe the comments saying you need 2 minimum tribe mates to tame this. It can be easily solo tamed i like to use two turtles one to sit on and one for bait. Let it grab the bait turtle then feed the tuso and jump back on your safe turtle and whistle the bait turtle back and just repeat.
I assume you died before you could click on dododex.
Please do not go into the new water cave before they fix this invisible squid lost two high lvl Spinos
