Utility Tips

What is a triceratops used for? triceratops utility tips and strategies in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
The trike is a good early tank, so I will show you a guide to the Triceratops! #1. The trike is found on most beaches, and sometimes come in duos. They are tanky, and have head protection, so shoot the body. They can also charge you, and stun you after they hit. #2. They have not too great stats when they are tamed, but they have okay health, damage, and weight. But their stamina and speed are bad, so level that up. You unlock the saddle at level 16, so not too far from the start. They have a standard melee attack, and the same charge. The charge also destroys trees in front of it. #3. All you need to do is knock it out, and feed it berries! Here are some ways to knock one out: Stand on a high rock where they can’t get to you, Trap them between rocks, or build a trap for them. This is my guide to the Triceratops, and I hope you like it! Signed, Pickle844Luvr
Listen very carefully to what I'm about to say. These have a huge damage reduction on their head--about 50%. The application for this is twofold: first, never pump tranqs into their head, it will take about 50% more. When taming, get above and shoot for the back. Second, because the player is protected by their head while riding, they are actually quite good for mid level raiding. You can hide behind it while riding on top, either shooting rockets or dropping c4 (it's like a built in riot shield). Furthermore, they can tank auto turrets as well if not better than turtles simply because auto turrets always hit their damage reduction area! In short, if you are using turtles, you might want to consider a high level trike as an alternative.
Triceratops dossier:
Triceratops are very strong. While they might look like easy game, don’t underestimate them. You’ll just get beaten to the death. That is, unless you climb a rock. Then you’ll just rot away up there. Use them as distractions to carnivores.
Domesticated:
These are very slow but mighty pets to have. They protect you, but it’s better to have a pack of trikes or a pack of different tamed animals. I have two raptors (Raptory V [the fifth] and Raptorsaurus II [the second]), a trike (Triceratops-level die), an iguanadon (Iguana), a carboneys (Carbony), a parasaur (Parasaphugus), and two dilos (I forgot their names because I left them in cages). It killed a Rex. My animals did that. I’m so proud. Sorry it’s so long, but I had to tell you.
Up = New respect for trikes (they are awesome)
Down = You are my new enemy. Just do up.
A fantastic early game tame. If you can get up on a ledge and shoot tranq arrows into its butt, then tame it up with mejoberries, you'll have a buddy that's good at fighting, hauling, berry and thatch gathering, and just being an all around reliable steed. They get a buff against big Carnivores like rexes, so tame a few up (both sexes for mate boosting) and you'll be the king of the beach!
