Tips & Strategies

What are tips for thylacoleo? Tips and strategies for thylacoleo in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
They’re incredibly useful for a lot of things. Their bleeding effect is very good to counter soakers because it deals percentage damage, so you can kill other tribe soakers with 20 bites regardless of their health if you bite them once every 5 seconds (You can use it to easily kill titanosaur too: bite it 19 times, then finish it with weapons for big exp). They can also climb walls, so they’re very strong for cave dungeons and are enough bulky to kill stuff. They can scare dinos with their roar and if you clim a tree u can perform their signature attack that blocks a small creature to the ground for 8 seconds, which is quite good for ambushes in the redwood to other players.
Do not stroke this kity or u deadsy
You will only find a Thyla when you don’t want to find one.
In other words, if you want to tame one they will be impossible to find. But if you want to get back home through the redwoods, you and your Pteranadon are F’d in the A.
This used to be my favorite creature even during the old mobile. I remember I was a noob and my cousin who taught me ark got frustrated that I would play 10 minutes a day but never progressed because of raptors and argys, so he made me watch a top 10 best tames by axeman and I saw something climb a tree. I stayed the entire video to watch what that creature was and it was number 1 on his list it was the thyla. Even though on old mobile I used many op creatures like the giga, rexes, quetz, spinos, and griffins I always said my favorite creature was the thyla. Even though I never used it. Just yesterday I went on my rhynio on the new mobile and found a max level. I tamed it and it became my favorite creature once again.
Wonderful mount to grab, the best part is the climbing cliffs. Run right up to them and hit and hold the jump button, if you can do it you can climb the mountains. They also have a bleed effect that helps when dealing with large predators or high health dinos.
Yes, they are evil jump and pin guys sometimes they carry you off for a distance, best defence is to always be prepared with a strong spear on hand, when they stun wait till the timer is done and then jab away. I find an easy tame method, hit em from extreme range with a really strong long rifle and electrolized tranq darts or regulars. Keep mounted on a decent health tame and keep shooting till it goes down.
Oh and after taming, you can sit on them and fire your rifle while mounted, so they are great for taming more of their own kind.
when taming a thyla put a line of large bear traps, get the thyla agro'd on you, and try an get it stuck in one. then shoot it stood along the line, so when it frees itself it'll run towards you, also stepping on the bear trap
agro'd - tryinig to attack you
thyla - thylacoleo
hope this helps
Whoa whoa why does this guy prefer cooked meat rather that raw ???
If you see one on a tree, shoot it so it will come down and pick it up with an Argentavis to bring it into a taming pen
So I just took my pteranodon on a trip around the island and went to the redwoods for funzies and didn’t see a single one of these dudes (granted I flew high just in case and was being paranoid) but uh, props to me (please note that I did a ton of research before flying and that this was my first time lol)
Best pvp mount EVER. Better than gigas and rex's because they are easier to tame and have more stamina. It's only real threats while riding it in the wild are microraptors, gigas, and other players on gigas and thylas. It can kill almost anything it finds, and the things it can't kill, it can outrun EASILY.
DONT I REPEAT DONT FLY IN THE REDWOODS thylas give you a deadly hug when encountered i once got killed 2 times by these dudes there was 2 off them i was running around bored and i got jumped by 2 and when i tried to get my loot back i got jumped again.
Go to Ragnorak in the desert with trees and metal and you'll.fijd them strolling the grounds. I hate the redwoods thylas
Thylas are really hard to tame and they prefer cooked stuff insted of raw if you use cooked prime meat thylas can still take over 150-300 bio toxins depending on level I recomand you guys building a spike wall around it after knocking it so it dosent get ambushed and keep checking the torpor to make sure you don’t over hit it
If you are playing on Ragnarok, they are easier to tame in the desert biome, very common around lat 86, lon 63.
They don't seem to be in the trees in fjordur so don't worry about them. They wander around the forest floor. Could be a bug who knows. Redwoods located NE corner of the map.
If you can't find these guys easily, I recommend using a Snow Owl. Flying high in the redwood, and with the Owl vision you can spot every creature in there from far away. If you don't have the Extinction DLC to tame Owls, just buy one from a player of your server, or use a command to spawn them.
When I did my own tests on day one of the patch in single player, 4 kibble was 25% for 150
I wouldn't bring anything short of 16 kibble.
