ARK: Survival Evolved & Ascended Companion
Tips & Strategies
The Thyla is an impressive creature to tame, so here is a guide to it. #1. The thyla is found in the Redwoods, and the Desert, and is aggressive. They will cause a bleed effect when they attack you, so be careful. #2. The Thyla will jump on you if you are riding anything in the redwoods, so be cautious. They can be lured into a trap, mostly a 4x4 stone one with doorframes 2 high. They are incredible when tamed, as they can climb rocks and trees, but only straight. Their saddle is only at Level 51. #3. It can harvest lots of meat and hide, so if you go out to grind meat, use a Thyla to do so. As impressive as they are, I would not recommend them for any boss fight: Leave that to rexes, yutys, daedons, etc. This is my guide to the thyla, and I hope you like it! Signed, Pickle844Luvr
You don’t find thyla, thyla finds you
The redwoods are now basically a no fly zone, I lost a quetz, and a pter to these b******s. They jump out of the tree, rip you off your mount, and then pin you and your mastercraft armor to the ground and murder you.
My hate for these guys is immeasurable
It all started when I played ark for the first time, I had managed to tame a high level tapejara and absolutely love him. I named him Barry and we set off on many adventure exploring the island. On day I was just flying through the redwoods and usual taunting the carnivores below me for not being able to touch me. BAM the thylacolia jumped out the trees and ripped me off Barry. Barry was whistled on nuetral and as he came down to aid me a desperately tried to get him on passive, but I was panicking, my screen shook as I was terrified as this was my first encounter of one. I tried to punch it but I inevitably died. I respawned and immediately got on my pteradon but just as I got on the saw the message in big red letters that Barry had fallen to the thylacoleo.
My Barry rest in peace
You can't even run from these. Just accept your quick and painful death.
I was upset the app doesn't have it listed in Fjördur, but Thylas are actually on the map. Let's try to get it updated!
They prefer cooked meat over raw. Don't waste your precious raw mutton, better cook it, as it tames faster and with higher efficiency.
A trap I have used to trap a thyla is a I like to call a box trap. All you need is four fence foundations, a large bear trap, and 16 door frames. First put the bear trap down, Then on all sides place a fence foundation then put the door frames on the fence foundations ( two doors high, and remember to leave one side open to lure in the thyla) then let your desire thyla into a trap, and when it gets stuck in the bear trap, close in the side that's open. And then of course knock it out and feed it with its desired food. This trap works well with other creatures as well. I hope this helped- ZXDragno
Thylacoleo has a bleed effect that does % of hp damage over a small amount of time. i killed my first titanosaur with my thyla but attacking and running when it agro’d BUT you can’t let the bleeding deal the finishing blow. This just happened and my thyla and I didn’t get the xp.
Hit the sky button so people don’t make my mistake and miss out on heaps of xp 🤥
(We love you Cole! :D)
You can use a snow owl's heat vision ablitiy to see thylas in trees!
Set a parasaur on turret mode and fly over redwoods carrying it with a flyer. Any of these things will get marked.
Pro tip, the fastest way to find/tame is to have a shock tranq dart gun and fly low through the redwood “searching” for one. Always be ready.
Thylacoleo are capable of pinning down flyers in mid-flight (anything but the Quetz and Wyvern, I believe), other Thylacoleo, and even Therizinos. You can also jump from object to object by holding down the jump button while pouncing from a tree or cliff (have to hit it at the right angle, however).
It's basically the Randy Orton of Ark.
It just RKOS's you outta nowhere...
These cats always perfectly land on your back.
Rip cole the thylacoleo u live god life 🙏 💔
I have a love-hate relationship with these dudes. One of the best tames there is but HORRID when wild. Do. Not. Fly. In. The. Redwoods. Period. Tame yourself a High level pair, male female, of thylas, breed them, and you’ll have yourself a taming buddy, fun when you get bored, can-tank-anything-all day (except wild gigas) pal for life. Watch the trees y'all. They’ve got eyes.
They will jump on you and murder you even if you're on a fricking wyvern. You are not safe from them no matter what animal you have. Just accept your slow and tender death. I learned it the hard way lmao. Scared the fckng hell out of me
