What are tips for thylacoleo? Tips and strategies for thylacoleo in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Use the snow owls thermal ability to find these guys and pick them off trees with a wyvern
You cannot force feed it or taming will drop
I’ll say one thing. They’re f**king tree camper and will pin you off your mount like there’s no tomorrow. They’ve jumped me off my rg so many times I lost count. Be careful with these. These creatures are not ones to play with when taming.
It’s not so hard if you know what to do. Using a pteradon or an argentavis may seem like a bad idea, but just look at every tree as you pass through the redwoods, and to avoid getting dismounted fly high above the forest. For taming, fly slowly on a dino and look at every tree. Then, shoot a tranq at it from a distance. They’ll fall right off and attack something, and it only takes a few to couple tranqs to knock it out, but be careful because they’re fast and strong. ( submitted by: Banzooi )
If you’re playing lost island go tame these in the desert. It is stupidly more easy to find and down them. They’re just prowling around on the ground and not a hidden dismount danger in the trees. There’s lots of cutouts in the rock there too so if you find Carnos or other walking predators that will interfere in the taming process you can just lead them off a cliff into a ravine. The spawn map has pings all over the mountain area on the east tide of the desert in the south.
Trust me when i tell u if ur looking for a thyla u better get a fast creature like a propoctodon bary and even a spino and make sure when u see it shoot at it so u get its attencion its hard to find a high level but trust me when i say it really worth it use a 4 by 4 trap make sure its rock then make sure the creature u using has a lot of health i recommend 10 k or 8k health because it does bleeding that can kill u and ur creature then Just tranq it the thyla preffers cooked Meat so i used cooked prime to tame my level 120 it takes a while but i say its worth it
These guys are some of the best tames in ark because you can tame things from its back by running away and tranqing your target from its back.
To tame them fly around in the red woods with a flyer that is on passive flee until a thyla tackles you out of the air. You need around 300-500 health and flak armour to survive the attack. Once it tackles you shoot it with a net gun if it's high level or just start tranqing it mid air and chase it (you need about 160% movement speed to catch it again)
Disclaimer: Make sure your flyer will not kill your thyla, I have lost 3 thylas that way.
An owl makes finding these much easier. Turn on thermal vision and you'll find them everywhere in the red woods. Make sure you have alot of biotoxin or narcotic as they don't like sleeping for long
These things make getting dinopithicus impossible. They just jump on top of u when u are killing the troop and then u have to go get ur stuff and/or bird after the incident. By the time you get there and ur stuff and bird back the dinopithicus has evaporated.

Easy trap with four Dino gates (doors on the first & last gates) place a large bear trap right in the middle. Bear trap captures Thylacoleo for a few secs, giving you enough time to close the doors on each end trapping it inside. Cooked mutton for faster tame but still great efficiency.
When I used to play mobile I found out later that thyla’s don’t spawn. Now I play on PS4 and I now understand some player’s pain
I can not find one not even one of them
Making a simple 2x2 trap is all you need. Make sure you put a bed though because it may glitch out when you kite it in. Once you get it in back away and knock it out.
Fly around until one pounces on you then when you get free pick it up with your flyer and fly it to a trap
Yuo can Pick them with an argy and Put them into a taming pen If your Brave enough but make the pen's walls high enough because they can JUMP as hell
In the lost island map, around the green ob of the desert you can find thylas on the ground.
They're in the tree's!!
If you plan to enter the red woods be sure to carry a good melee. Most likely they'll see you before you see them. Once they catch you it's up to you to kill it quicker than it kills you
In my opinion it’s the best all around tame, good health, it can climb mountains, lots of stamina, good weight, fast swimmers and good damage, the only thing I do suggest upgrading is it’s movement speed. When taming them their tapor drops extremely fast so have a lot of narcotics like I would say at least 50. hope this helped.
