Tips & Strategies

What are tips for thylacoleo? Tips and strategies for thylacoleo in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
They are not as scary as they seem. They will always stand out on the low-middle part of the tree without leaves. Just be careful if you're moving through any packed tree clusters because it could be waiting just out of view on the other side, circle the area at a distance if you want to be absolutely sure. I've played since 2017 and only ever been dismounted once. If anything, their aggro range when you're on foot is pretty far
They are fast
Have a good dps
THEY can climb walls and trees
One of the best land creatures of all time
They are the best to collect chitin
You should tame it
Tip:- the best way to tame it if you have a dragon just find it and pick it up to a clear area
Very useful I suggest taming these early game best way to tame them is with a boomerang and a cliff make sure you have narcotics but don't forget they need cooked food
Finding one at the edge of the forrest and letting it chase you to the beach makes taming way easier.
I was going over the mountains and through the woods to my grammas house and litererally got shredded to pieces. Got killed again trying to get my stuff so than I couldn't find that location again...bout a week later I stumbled upon my argent that fortunately was in passive mode and fled from my killer.
Here’s a tip how to tame it on early game: you need an argy, an small 2x2 trap, 2 walls high, shoot him with dart and it will go down, trap and knock him out, use cooked prime meat if cannot afford mutton. It has a huge levelling on hp and dmg, you can use it for few caves and create a best that can kill almost anyone, also it is really fast and mobile, with slow stamina drain and fall damage. Sadly it’s too big for most caves, but you can take it there with cryopod.
OK boys and girls, you see this creature right here^ yep that b*****d is the devils own spawn.. catching it on the island is pure hell. (Much easier to catch on genesis 2 with bear traps) but I digress.
I would suggest having a fast flying mount like a pteranadon for this.. fly above the redwood trees area towards the mountains to build your pit trap. (Make it bigger if you want to make it multipurpose.)
4× stone foundations, stone Dino gate, 12× stone walls (make one a stone door wall for quick in out escaping), and 4× stone ramps.
From just outside of the redwoods you can spot them in trees.. DO NOT FLY OR RIDE PAST THEM, UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE A BAD DAY. When you see one from OUTSIDE the redwoods that you want just shoot it once to aggro it over to you.. (when it's on the ground it shouldn't be able to rip you off your mount). Fly over to aggro it into your trap. Voila, tranq it in safety ;)
Rest in peace Cole The thyla 🪦💀💔❤️🩹😭 😔
The easiest way to tame them is make a 2x2 box with 2x ramps, 12x wooden doorways, 4x wooden foundations and lure it in using a tranq I recommend using Tranq darts but a crossbow would work too. I dont know if this is on all devices but on ark mobile food drains instantly to 0.
If you’re skilled enough, and have a decent amount of health or skill… you can lure a thylacoleo into a gate trap. Place down 3 dino gates with 2 doors and only enough room for you to get through, then locate the tree kittens and draw their attention, get it in the gate and close the gate, then you can more easily knock it out without risk of it escaping before you do.
Works best where they spawn on the ground like in the snowy mountains on The Island.
This might not be efficient or easy but it’s fun XD
Thylas are found in only in redwoods. Scorched they are wandering like many other creatures. Aberration they do not spawn. Extinction is the same. And so is genesis part 1. Part 2 they are the same as scorched but wandering around the plains, highlands, and lowlands.
Super deadly mounts I have two of them. They’re pretty easy to tame compared to how many times you die to them. You just have to build a trap and you can leave gaps between each wall of the trap because they can’t fit through it, which makes it easier for you to shoot them down with train Trank arrows also it only takes 4 to 5 arrows and if you feed them cooked prime meat, you only need five the best way to do. It is to lower them in the trap and they’ll try to break it but they’ll stick their heads through an accident because they can get that through and then they don’t actually damage the trap and you can reuse it over and over. Make sure to have a bell moth Dino gate or a normal one either one works because they’re not that big but once you tame them, they will be the best one in the game. They can kill an Alpha raptor, no problem. Also, if you want to escape them in amount just fly above the trees and if you’re in the trees, minimum height would be 2/3 of the way up because they can’t climb the rest of the way but when you tame them, they can.
If you have a tribemate on a Parasaur you can easily locate thylas, when you find one shoot it once to knock it off the tree and lead it back to a trap. From there it’s just tranq and tame.
Be careful when flying through the redwood, however if your flying mount has enough stamina, thylas don’t seem to be near the tops of the trees. Just be cautious when you take a stamina break.
People kept telling me not to fly in the redwoods. I didn't listen. A flying tiger didn't like my ptera or me. Bastard nearly got me, but flak armor, a metal shield, sword and a little courage saw me through the fight.
