Works great as turrets pump it full of melee and stam all turret tames do not count as turrets so i covered my base in heavey turrets and dilo and thorny dragons helps kill and blind any raides

These guys are my go to wood gatherer for my single player simply because they are carnivores. They will only gather wood and thatch when harvesting trees and not pick up a metric ton of berries like other wood gatherer tames. It's not super hard to empty your dinos inventory of clutter but still nice not to. Also has the added bonus of healing faster because it eats meat.

I don't play with the SP boosted stats checked so in a fight it can take out low to mid level trash especially with back peddling and it's bite attack. Vs. pack creatures and larger tames like Rexes I would definitely recommend you bring other tames as protection.

This thing can easily knock out rexes when in groups of 5, just encumber them and put on agressive

These are my favorite mounts. They're the beaver of Scorched Earth. They gather wood very well. The initial carry weight isn't too bad& neither is the health for small fights. So they're also decent battle mounts if leveled properly. One of their biggest assets is their ranged quill attack. In addition to a small amount of damage, it also deals torpor. Not a lot, but could be helpful in aiding knocking dinos out. Overall, they're a great mount in my opinion. They're biggest downside is their slow movement speed. Getting from A to B can take a while. Leveling in Health, Melee, & Movement Speed is highly recommended.

Each secondary attack deals 10 torpor, can knock out a jerboa in 3 attacks. The secondary attack is mainly used to aggro dinos from afar, even farther than crossbow range.

This is the easiest of the wood gatherers to obtain. I'm a solo player on ragnorak. They don't wake up as fast as beavers and don't take as long as mammoths. It's a bit of a distance, but if you have a ptera I'd say find the highest level Thorny Dragon that you can find so it doesn't wake up too fast, then fly to the highlands and kill a sheep or two and mutton tame it.

I think these guys shouldn’t have rapidly decreasing food.

This cute little dragon with 2k health, 1.2k stamina, 200% speed and 400% save me too many times, I love it!!

Thorny dragons are deadly to tame bc they spawn in groups of 2 and have tranquilizing venom in their needles. I recommend building a trap or placing some bear traps to then easily knock out and tame the large carnivore. Once tamed they act as good fighters, have a smithy saddle, tranq ballista of sorts, and most importantly: wood gatherer’s next I will be doing one of the following: reaper, rock drake, ravager, roll rat, karkinos

So I tamed like 5 of these guys and made them into a turret around my base and I went offline the next day I just see one missing but the other 4 have gotten like 30 lvls

Mostly used for wood gather and maybe could be used as a knockout tame

It may be pokey.

Use it as tranq turrets and storage box. Encumber it on a pillar and set on aggresive. Boom. Boost health and dmg.

Tips:

They are decent swimmers

Just upgrading there strength a little there thorn shooting ability packs a punch

Don’t take them to battle unless high level, I lost a lot of them trying to take on a sarco

Grab ur chainsaw and use this thing as the pack mule, u average about 500 wood per tree

The thorny dragon (thorny) is the beaver of scorched earth. There's only one problem. It has little hp and dies very quickly. I recomend using a couple wolves or sabertooth to act as a bodyguard while collecting thatch and wood.
