Tips & Strategies

I built 3x2 stone foundation put stone door ways all around it then I put stairs on one side outside side by side so the dragon can run up
Make it chase you
run up your stairs/ramp
Once it come in run out a door way
Go back on stairs outside n shoot with tranqs
My level 85 took 22 tranqs
Also used same pen to tame X trike n pretty much anything that can’t fit through the door ways
UP IF IT HELPS
If you are going to tame one of these with no dinos, be sure to upgrade your movement speed and get tranqs. When you see it whip its tail forwards move to the right you will dodge the shots. This worked for me.
Completely irrelevant but I think it looks kinda cute.
I tamed my first thorny by simply being on a rock ledge above it, paying close attention if any tail spikes were thrown and dodging easlie. The ledge took most of the hits and I used trank arrows to take it down. I didn't know what it ait so threw in everything. Meat, they like meat. So that's how I got my boy, Chibi.
Thorny dragon can act as a turret, set tange to high, fill it up with stone so it cant move and set to aggressive. It is beaver version in desert, doesnt collect berries thoe.
Argent can pick it up now after tlc 2
Piss it off the night run behind a creature you want to tame ⬆️ For da noobs
Be sure and name your first Thorny Dragon "Me So Thorny." Epic.
I have 12 on platforms 4 pillars high scattered around my base. I have an issuse with dino spawns in the base. So they act as a long range needle launcher. Weigh down with sand because its weight isnt affected by the dragons buff. Set all to long range aggressive and u have a protected base. Add a few plant X for added assurance. I no longer have spawn problems. Found a ready to tame terror bird today too pretty neat.
For the times i have encountered this they seem to travel in packs so be careful when you are tryna tame this cute boi. Like so people can see
If you have a flyer carry one to a taming pen, it's gonna aggro and start throwing spines at everything it sees the minute it lands. Plan accordingly, and use solid walls so it can't shoot through them.
