Crouch towards it until your sure you can get it with your Bola (about two foundations) or it runs away. If you did get it in your Bola trank it with headshots. If it ran away use rare flowers to lead it somewhere safe and repeat the process. Also you might die from the tapejara.

It is affected by rare flowers, so agro it with rare flowers and lure it into your taming cage.

So, I was looking for one. Reading the comments here, it was kinda easy. WRONG. They are so annoying. I STILL don’t have one! This is the materials you might wanna bring:

— 7 bolas (might not miss, but in case your TAPEJARA FLIES AWAY OR IS EATEN BY RAPTORS THE MOMENT IT IS KNOCKED OUT.)

— About 30 biotoxin (just in case it gets slain)

— I don’t know if tranq darts work (people say they kill it) but at least 18 tranq ARROWS (Just in case it FLIES AWAY OR GETS EATEN TWICE, TRUST ME I KNOW! IT HAPPENED.)

— A flier, saddled (I did my pterodon and my argy following, since they need to be protected and the ptero was to get there fast)

— Your favorite music! I’m just kidding, but I had it on. It may help you with encouragement!

— Oh, of course! Meat/kibble! About 40-60 (in case) meat normal and 10 prime meats (in case). You may wanna catch more.

Well, go somewhere and get it, SOMEWHERE WITHOUT RAPTORS! There is this spot by a little peninsula near the left bottom corner of the Island map. Go to the land and fly across the ocean surrounding the peninsula (mostly, it’s a peninsula) and go towards the corner curve thing to the right of the ruins when you first approach it from the ocean/peninsula. Then, see the little flat by the river surrounding the redwoods? Go into the forest, it’s loaded with tapejaras. I found 2 in 1 ark day. Knock out this thing and bola it first! Load it’s inventory with meat and SIT THERE DON’T GO AWAY. IT WILL GET EATEN BY RAPTORS, AND IF YOU DON’T LIKE RAPTORS GO FAR FAR AWAY. Protect, let it wake up as u pet, get saddle, fly. Well, bye. No need to use any kibble or mutton on a low level. Just prime meat.

Tamed one today but lost my arge to a giga… good trade I guess.

You don’t need one of these to solo tame a quetzal you can just kill the quetzal then take its implant than revive it at a revive platform but build a big a house around it then go in and revive it and tranq it then put meat in its inventory boom you have a quetzal

Easy to tame, build a argy trap, fly near tapejera, eat rare flower, lead tapejera to your trap... Just have pteranadon, inside the trap tapejera with calm down and try to fly away instead of attack you or your pet once the flower wears off..!

I just looked around until I found a egg from a tapejara then fly to base it will attack me cause I took the egg that’s why you should use another flyer

a other flyer make sure its safe then bola use tranq arrows it will fall in your base and tame it sorry I haven’t tamed one yet

On mobile rare flowers don’t agro anything

If you have the revive platform, then just kill it and get her/his green glowing thing.

Build big room, then put the revive platform inside, then revive it, then tranquilize it and last step tame it

So I think I have a good idea to tame one of these:

1) Find your desired Tapejara (Wow, who would've guessed that step)

2) Eat a rare flower to get it to chase after you (Clear out the area if you don't want to deal with other creatures)

3) Use a harpoon gun with a net projectile to trap it and stop it from moving

4) Build a trap (anything you want) around it before it escapes (You have a minute so you should have enough time)

5) Knock out and tame your new best friend :)

You have to be pretty fast to do this you have to run

Up to it and quickly bola it and then tranq it

Don't get too close, they'll fly away and chasing them won't work, ya gotta sneak up, i recommend ghillie

I tamed my tape with one shot from asc bow and some prime no bolas flying creatures traps or the like

Genesis 2 has the net projectile. Shoot the Tapejara with the net projectile. Tranq out. The net projectile works on land and air Dinos, even when they are flying.

No net projectile? Eat rare flowers while on top of a tame set to passive. The Tapejara will attack you and the tame, jump off the tame and the Tape will continue to peck the tame. Now aim for the Tapejara and bola it. Now knock it out.

You can find these in the redwoods but it makes for a tough tame. Southeast isles on the river banks they are common and will often land.
