They are mildly slow, but you might want to get on a rock and shoot it with tranq arrows, takes 2-5 arrows and make sure you have bio toxin on you. Takes a while for them to tame, the best thing to beat that time is to get a sleeping bag ( Not a simple bed!) And sleep in it. When you wake up shove a hundred bio toxins down it's throat, wait that three more minutes, and you got a stego.

I just use a decent sized tree to stand behind and when the stego starts to pass the tree, i do a half circle around the trunk and shoot at the stegos butt while it tries to turn around like a 90s buick. Knock it and Starve it for 25 minutes before you add the berries and bam.

It amazing at killing high health dinos like Carno

Get Trang arrows and find one and shoot it went you nock it out feed it like that I got my stego

I just got on top of my stone base and shot it till it was knocked out. On extinction

Use rockarrot it goes so much faster

Stegos are basically oversized carbos

Just chuck stones with a slingshot and walk backwards

It did happen with a low level stego and a low level pachy but i knocked it out in one pachy ram. It was a very easy tame that way.

My gf and I have our own unofficial and are Duo running Lost Island PVE. We decided due to being so early game and the amount of carnivores being so high and resources being so low that a stego may be the way to go for a decently "tamed" encounter as for KOing and we brought roughly 50Tranq arrows and xbow each. We found a beauty of a level 130 and while we may have tamed her, we walked out with 1 broken crossbow, and about 20 arrows total.

Make a taming pen, aggro and run in, this will save you so much time and frustration if using Slingshot/Tranq Arrows. In the future we will build one for larger/beefier tames for sure. Bring minimum 75 tranq arrows for anything above level 100, if you don't use a pen keep at least 1 Stego length between you and your target tame and always for the head. When it runs, make sure to keep some distance so it doesn't loop around and begin smacking/man-handling you. Good luck, have fun and stay alive! UP SO ALL CAN SEE.

Tldr: Beware of high torpor. Bring extra ammo/supplies for knocking out/taming/surviving. Preferably build a medium sized ramp taming pen 3-high crows nest, 2 high walls and doorway for you to escape out of stone or better.

Tip

Find a tall stone of cliff. That way it can’t hit you.

Then after you tranq it let it starve, I also used bio toxin.

And then give it rockarrot.

If you're not going to trap it, be prepared for a game of cat and mouse. Also make sure there is plenty of farming around. Snails move faster than a stego tames... =_=

Use some tranq arrows or darts then just move back slowly, when it gets close just un equip and run far then shoot repeat until knocked out, they are also passive so if you think about getting one grind some narco berries for arrows (that’s also pretty easy)they eat berries to.

Stegosaurs are amazing creatures. you should tame them get a lot of arrows and get on top of a high rock and shoot at it don’t kill though

Theyre great starter tames on aberration. They help you farm berries and can deal with ravagers, they’re fairly tanky with a few levels into health and the saddle is accessible early game.

Lvl up their weight there very slow

I spun a wheel of doom and landed on tame stego, and I was thinking omg this is gonna be pain! But it only needs like 15 tranqs with a crossbow and it tames super fast! It does need a crap ton of berries
