Found one of these bad boys and tamed it. Here's how:

You'll need 12 to 15 tranq arrows or darts with a bow, crossbow, or a rifle. Then just tranq it up. These are pretty slow so you CAN walk but I'd recommend running and stopping occasionally. Then you can feed it kibble or mejoberries. BOOM. Now you have tamed the infamous stego.

Utilities:

This dino can harvest wood, thatch, berries in targe amounts. It's slow but a major early game tame because its attacks are pretty overpowered. This dino also has a high defence and melee but its stamina and speed are TRASH.

I just tamed a tek of these guys! I used a 2 by 2 floor and walls stack 2 high and made ramps up all side and put a dino gate on the other. This is a trap I use on a lot of dinosaurs including rex, therazino, carno, and bary. Oh don’t forget the stegosaurs. Hope this is helpful:) 😃 Ty for reading!!!!!

They are quite easy to tame if you have a sling shot or a couple of tranq arrows. I got one off the back of my iguanidon.

Just grab some tranq arrows, a crossbow, stand on a rock and shoot. Then feed it berries and give it a saddle.

Surely you can just walk backwards and slingshot it till it unconcious then give it some berry

It’s pretty easy. I tamed a lvl 10 male stego with this method;

MATERIALS:

10 tranq arrows

A bow or crossbow

100 berries (25 azulberries and so on)

METHOD:

1. Climb onto a rock the stego can’t when it charges at you

2. Shoot at least 7 tranq arrows at its side or stomach (I didn’t do the head)

3. If it doesn’t get knocked out shoot the rest of your tranq arrows

4. Once knocked out, feed it the berries

5. If it’s nearly conscious, feed it narcotics (1 spoiled meet and 5 narcoberries to make), narcoberries or bio toxin

6. If you run out of berries (which you shouldn’t) quickly collect some

7. You now have a stego!

(More tranq arrows/more

berries the higher the level)

The stego's speed decreases by 65% when tamed, but the game "compensates" you by buffing its movement speed to like 200% so that it is just... 30% slower than a wild stego if you have 0 weight. Not really practical traveling long distances with this thing, bro really fulfills its "tank" role

Can everybody posting tips stop assuming that every body reading these have strong fliers like quetzal and tapajaras because some people don’t. I’m a low level beach bob who’s only flier is one lvl 50 ptera that I am still making a saddle for.

When you have a fast mount, like raptor, it's extremly easy to knock them out. Just get your bow or crossbow and play cat and mouse.

From experience: You can tame it without a trap if you're fast enough, just make sure it's alone first. I used tranq arrows in a crossbow and just ran from it, turning around every few seconds to shoot. Not too hard to hit the head, to be honest. Of course I can't guarantee this will work for everyone, but it worked for me :)

While it’s taming try put gates or spike walls around so no predators come and debuff or kill the stego

Here’s an easy trap for stegos place one stone foundation and four door frames and a wooden ramp

If the stegosaurus got damaged a lot wait for it to heal

You maybe need 20-50 narcotics and like 50 tranq arrows

Get lots of narcotic and be prepped for a looooong tame if high level

You can find these on the herbivore island along with ankylos sometimes, from there you can climb onto one of the rock formations and knock them unconcious with tranq arrows(they are pretty bulky) If you have a good saddle blueprint for them(I have apprentice tier), then you have a very good berry and thatch gatherer on your hands.

I just used tranquilizers on him on a rock and fed him mejoberrys

It has well balanced stats and is good to have around.
