Dont be like me and spend the time to knock it out to realize its a passive tame

Nobody has said it yet so here it is

You need to put the honey into your hot bar inorder to throw it

It's just like activating everything else you will not eat it in the hot bar

Only way I’ve found to tame is honey. Put honey in your last slot of hot bar and use it like you were trying to eat it but only when it digs and you have to be aiming at the hole.

When they go under the earth, throw honey at them!

Everyone seems to be a moron here. Put it in any slot. Use that slot when it burrows while you're looking at the hole. So if it's slot 1 then you press 1 to use it while you're looking in the hole. DONT HAVE MULTIPLE HONEY IN ONE SLOT. It will take all of them and it messes up the taming for some stupid reason, probably because the game is a garbage mess. Nobody here is clear. When people say "just drop it" you'd think to press O in your inventory to drop it, but that's completely wrong and anyone who says that is just a moron. Sorry but I'm a little triggered at how many tips I had to look at before I actually just figured it out myself.

Taming:

Step 1- get honey, 5 is good unless it’s a super high level.

Step 2- clear out all predators.

Step 3- put the honey in your hot bar.

Step 4- follow the Rollrat until it digs a hole. DO NOT TOUCH ANY GEMS IT DIGS UP!! That will aggro it and you will lose taming.

Step 5- immediately run on top of the hole, look down and throw the honey. The Rollrat will return and eat the honey.

Step 6- repeat until tamed😁

High level RR, low level survivor Taming instructions;Put sleeping bags near-ish bee hive, take off armor, collect honey and die, rinse n repeat until you have enough (2 collections per hive every 15 mins) Put honey on hot bar and eat it. It will throw a honey comb. When rat burrows, throw this at the mound. -Bob

It may not make a difference...but to whom it may concern; you dont have to put the honey in your last slot...it can be in any slot. This might help those, who like me, have a broken right d-pad (xbox).

They’re comparatively easy to tame, all you need is ten honey for a low to mid level one. ‘Honey’ is not as daunting to acquire as it’s often made out, you can simply walk up to a nest (which are often located on the ground in Aberration) and take 5 honey directly from the nest, the negative side is you will be attacked by bees and will almost certainly die (if they can kill a Tek survivor then they can kill you) your only saving Grace with this ‘wild’ beekeeping is that you can use Ghillie armour and a dire bear (that’s what the Tek player failed to do). Once you get the honey all you need to do is throw the honey at the role rat hole etc.
