Tips & Strategies

What are tips for rock drake? Tips and strategies for rock drake in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
I've tried to get eggs with a managarmr with 4200 Stam and with the mushroom brew (alot of them and they don't stack) its a breeze to get to the eggs, but getting back out of the radiation zone without killing the mana is hard. If you're gonna use a mana for this, level up Stam to 5k+ atleast. Good luck
EDIT : Venom gives 400 food, has 5h spoil in preserving bin and 2h in dino. Drake will eat at 10-18% of max food (for its first eat). Algorithm: (max food) × .10 or .18 = (first eat). Drake below adolescent drain 1 food per 11 seconds. Drake adolescent or above drain 1 food per 22 seconds. Algorithm: (current food) x (seconds) = (time until depleted).
I used around 6 to 10 dimetrodons in a house for incubation.
Doesn’t matter how many you use, just make sure that the insulation in the room is 2100 or better.
To check the insulation in the room, just take off all your clothes and open up your inventory screen…. It’s in the center console where it displays time, day, amount of tames and temperature… It probably says insulation count under temperature.
You can use egg incubators instead of a billion air cons, though the preferred temperature of the rock drake eggs are -85.0, you can adjust the temperature of it by holding for options and going to temperature control.
Aberrant spinos are the easiest way to get eggs, also bring an extra hazard suit cause they lose durability quickly.
In the rock drake cave in Fjordur the drakes give a lot of eggs. I got 12 eggs in one go from them.
Rock Drake's are very tanky, if your gonna be using a Ravager be sure to avoid fighting them.
Haven’t seen a tip on this yet: on Aberration, follow the metal spine in order to get to the path which leads down to the rock drake nest.
Alternatively you can drop down all the way and dismount, but it isn’t easy to find your way back, especially if you aren’t familiar with the map. I dropped down to the huge fossil, and I had a lot of trouble getting back. Needed to use my ravager and shoot zip lines around the place to get back. Not ideal.
2-3 pairs of hazard suits. Even dropping down, don’t bring just one. Only grab one drake egg for your first expedition if it is a hassle getting more eggs. It’s much easier once you get your first drake raised. Grab 85 red gems on your way home too. For the drake saddle.
You need a crazy amount of ACs to hatch drake eggs. Like 20. Breed and level a ravager for weight, use an anky with a cryopod or pick, and harvest the blue rocks in the bioluminescent zone. Plenty of metal there. Tek creatures cover electronics but if you’re on ascended, I know that the little pond area outside the portal by the cave has trilobites and I think silica pearls too.
You need to run up your electric bill for all the damn air conditioners you need to hatch one of these Mfs
Ok so I have a lot of drakes and I know how to raise them easily.
If your on aberration:
if you have an adult drake, reaper, or megalosaurus and hazmat go into the blue zone and head for the purple forest area that’s where I normally get nameless venom. When you find them start killing them but always leave 1 left to be the orange leader guy. Then it will spawn more nameless and you can kill them down to 1 again if you have a nameless trap then get 1 in that and kill the rest.
On any other map:
You will need a snow owl or a daedon and heal it once it is low go I recommend venom raising rather than this because you might have to watch it most of the time.
Once adult:
Drakes are awesome and all that but here’s some things I like to do with them
1. So with good stamina drake you can glide around for ages and look for things to tame
2. I have a lvl 395 drake and he’s my favorite drake and has some nice stats and I use him to well get more nameless venom lol
3. Scare friends, invisibility for the win! Fly invisible into a friends base after having a friend open up. It could scare them but I like that because it’s a ragnarark server
I play on switch so I hope this helps idk if it’s different on other platforms.

Managarmr should work on Aberration, if you know how to control it it makes your life just a bit easier
Is you want to tame a rock drake on fjourdur then you will need 2 people so tame a gallimimus with good health stamina and weight then head over to the rock drake den and run in with the galli your friend should get of and get the egg before running for your lives
For Fjordur players: These are found in Asgard (middle portal) and in a cave of radiation (you will need a hazard suit). To get an egg without being touch by any rock drakes, use a desmodus (immune to radiation). Enter the cave at night and use invisibility. Find the egg you want then grab it quickly, hop straight back onto the desmodus and get away from the floor and walls and go straight for the exit. Extremely effective.
Also you can get nameless venom in the aberration cave (coordinates= 57.2 lat, 85.1 lon). Desmodus is also effective here. Hope this helps.
This thing is one of the BEST traveling dinos you can have, it can glide, climb, walk/run, and swim pretty easily! Not to mention it does decent damage, I recommend putting stam, hp, and melee damage on it. Use oxygen if you want to be underwater more often but it isn’t a good aquatic creature.
To raise a baby i use maewing feeding option, it worked for me!!
