Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a rhyniognatha? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a rhyniognatha.
Not every creature can “eat” the pheromone that the males drop.. like this tip so Dododex can see and add which creatures can eat it and which ones can’t.
I know some that cannot:
Megatherium
Stego
Tek Creatures
Anky
Doeds
Sarco
Baryonyx
Carno
Managarmr
Some that can eat:
Wyverns
Rex
Quetzal
Maewing
Trike
With more testing we could have it set up fully and implemented into DodoDex
Before you tame you need to know that they kill your tame after its been impregnated
TAMING
- Get a TRIKE that you DON’T love
- Bring it to the Swamp
- Kill a MALE Rhyniognatha
- Bring a FEMALE semi-close to your Trike
- GET THE FEMALE BELOW OR EQUAL TO 100 HP
- FEED the Trike the PHEROMONE you got from the MALE
- IT WILL IMPREGNATE THE TRIKE
- YOUR TRIKE WILL REQUEST 5 DIFFERENT FOODS
(YOU DONT HAVE TO FEED IT THE FOODS BUT IT WILL HEAVILY IMPACT THE LEVELS AND STATS)
- Once the timer hits 0:00 Your Trike will go UNCONSCIOUS AND DIE
AND THERES YOUR BABY RHY 🥳 (R.I.P Rex lvl 72)
In the early game, you can use like a trike to get a lvl 1 rhynio, and it will actually carry you through most of the game.
What I did was I first knocked the female out and slowly chipped away at her health, and once she woke up she impregnated my Bronto.
All of the currently known cravings for host creatures include
Giga eggs
Carchars eggs
Quetzal eggs
Golden hesperornis eggs
All kibbles
Shadow steak saute
Fria curry
Enduro stew
Focal chilli
Lazarus chowder
Veggie cakes
Black pearls
Achatina paste
Gasoline
Element
Rhino horns
Ammonite bile
Bee honey
Battle tartar
Once your Dino gets impregnated, don't put it in cryo, you'll lose the baby....didnt even know until i got back to my base :(
Taming these things are confusing, but I believe I have figured out how they work.
Step 1 is to kill a wild rhynio (can be any gendrr) to get the pheromones, next it is best to make a trap, the best design i know of is basically a stone dino gate griffin trap, but with behemoth gates. Next you want to find a high level wild female rhynio. Think of the level of the rhynio as the taming effectiveness you will recieve 150 being max. Next you need to lower the rhynio to below 10% hp, you can net them to make this easier. Once it is below 10% hp you need a mount with a high drag weight in order to inherit the best stats, carch/giga have best chances. Feed the creature the phermone and mount it. The rhynio should impregnate it within a few seconds. DO NOT CRYOPOD THE DINO IT IMPREGNATED! YOU WILL LOOSE THE BABY! once your tame is impregregnated it will go through a gestation period and ask for cravings. It is important you furfill as many as possible as they have a major effect on the level the offspring will be and the stats inherited. Once the timer is complete your dino will fall unconscious and die, however you will now have a new perfect tame rhynio!
Just a quick tip, Now only males will drop pheromones,
DONT KILL THE FEMALES!!!
Use a direwolf on ark ascended to easily tell when it is below 10% health
It’s just came out with the new update. To tame it is kinda like the reaper. But instead of u getting impregnated it’s ur Dino but use a disposable Dino as once it gives birth the creature dies.from my own experience you need to kill one then get its pheromone gland then feed it to I am pretty sure ur creature once u found one u want to tame then find one u want to tame then eat the gland then keep attacking it until it impregnates u then u have to wait for a bit and u need to feed ur dino random things cuz it craves stuff. What I got was black pearls Lazarus chowder and absorant.I think the more u feed it the more older the baby is once it bursts from ur dinos chest then u need to raise it from there
The Paraceratheriums can eat the pheromones too which is extremely helpful because they are easy to tame, practically useless AND they live in the same area as the Rhyniognatha!
to get a high level it depends on the host dino, the best ones are gigas, carchas, and brontos at the top. and rhynios get stats based on the host. even being said, its not guaranteed the stats such as it might not get the 30 points into health that the host dino had to put it into a example, and another factor is you have to give the host cravings. if not it might not be a max level either, they also dont get the hosts speed stat, their cravins contains: carcha egg, quetz egg, giga egg, golden egg, all the rockwell recipes and i mean all, element, absorbent substrate, black pearls, and gasoline. if helpful punch the sky
If you guys are wondering how a rhyinoganthana baby level is determined it depends on the level of your dino (host) and the female rhyinoganthana that impregnates your creature also cravings really matter a lot the formula of cravings it that the total cravings you feed the creature divided by the total cravings you could feed the creature basically around 4-9 depends on server boosts or cheats.
Step 1: first you have to kill a male rhyniognatha and take the pheromone from its inventory
Step 2:take a Dino which can eat the pheromone I recommend taking a brontosaurus, rex ,yutyrannus and trike
Step3: find a low lvl female rhyniognatha (you can use high lvls also but they do more dmg)
Step 4: drop the female to below or 100 health (when you think you can 1 shot it use tranq arrows or a spear or pike) quickly feed ur Dino the pheromone before the rhyniognatha flees away
Step 5:your Dino will be impregnated and it will crave 5 different foods
(It's health will go down but don't try to heal it it's a waste of time and food) the time for the baby to come out will be 1 hour and feeding the 5 different foods is not compulsory but it will highly effect the lvl
Step 6: you now have a juvenile/baby rhyniognatha!!!!!
PAY ATTENTION PLEASE!!!
GET A DINO WITH ENOUGH HEALTH TO IMPREGNATE!!!
From all the info I got, this bug is real annoying to tame but I still believe I can do it
My Technique :
I got the Pheromone from the Male
I tranqed the female ( it sleeps a lot )
Tamed a bronto
Made sure it got food but it didn’t have enough health (2.5k)
Then Rhynio woke up, I fed the bronto the pheromone
The TRICK you don’t see is the Rhynio has to TAIL ATTACK 10-12 times before it impregnates, it doesn’t just hit once and leave and that drains your Dino’s health
So moral lesson, get a healthy host
Guys a huge tip to tame this creature is to finish of a low level male get the pheromone tame a rex or stronger for best effectiveness on the rhyinoganthana baby’s stats pacers and brontos are fine but if you are looking for stronger rhyinoganthana use a rex or carcha or giga then find a really high level female ( low level is fine too depends on how strong you want your rhyinoganthana to be) Finally dismount your creature while the rhyinoganthana is attracted to it shoot the rhyino to less than 10% hp tip just divide the health by 10 anyways, then feed your dino the pheromone wait for it to get impregnented make sure to feed it all the cravings it wants if you want a really good rhyinoganthana using this tip I got many 120+ lvl rhyinoganthana and one of them is so strong it does like 2k damage per hit so yeah guys good luck. Also rhyinoganthana can be deadly so use a really high level argy or a good shot gun
Do not worry about health of a host it’s gonna be ok anyway (at least he will die but you will have him)
The rhynio has a similar taming method to the reaper you have to kill a male to get a certain item then eat the item which is called fertile essence then you need to find a female rhynio and get is to under 10% of its health and will do a special attack to give you the baby but it has to be done in the air or underwater so it can use all of its legs as required unfortunately the female will only give a baby to someone that’s a higher or the same level as it although that’s not confirmed to stay in the game.

Recent patch makes it impossible to tame inside a trap. Need to release it from trap before it will impregnate your dino. I wasted a bunch of pheromones for science
When "taming" the health of your dino will drop rapidly, it scared me ans my mates half to death, its meant to, when the health of the dino reaches 0 itll drop to the floor unconscious for a split second before dying and being consumed. No amount of healing will save the dino. The dino wont die before the timer finishes unless its being attacked by an outside source. Goodluck everyone
